The builds are looking good. I am travelling this week, so no updates on this one. Good news though is that I'm on my way to the Planes of Fame museum in Chino, CA.

Congratulations on the MO-1 in the latest FSM. That's Newtron's build, photos taken at our flying field.

There's also an article on a larger PT-22.

Started on the left wing.

After I started building the wing I realized what Pete is talking about on the plans about "curving to tip". I was thinking the spars would have to be bowed in to meet the wing tip.
I told myself, "Self, that's gonna be a lotta stress".

As I was building, the "fill between spars" started to sink in and I saw the light.
(just a dumb coon-ass edumacated in Louisiana )

Also got the top hatch started while waiting around for the wing to dry.
The bottom deck was a little long and the fit was snug for my tastes in between F3T & F5T. So I sanded the edge back (along with the notch) about 1.5mm and it was fine.
The parts fit well, I just like a bit of a gap there so I don't bang up the edges when getting the batts in & out.

Your zipping right along Julian, six laminations around that horz stab that sucker should be nice and strong and resistant to warping.

Look, this just isn't on. You guys are talking about an FSM I haven't seen yet. Sounds as if the editor had a last minute change of mind, after I rearranged the MO-1 to go onto 4 sheets at free plan size. Sometimes you can do it, others, not so well. I doubt the PT22 will end up as a free plan, but you never know with these things. Maybe I'll have a play around with it.

The only difference it makes to you builders is in the length of article required - they like two parts of at least 3 pages each.

How odd is it that we in the States receive our FSMs before the natives do.
The latest FSM free plan and article is your Fokker. Kdalhaus was referring to the MO-1 picture accompanying your Quiet Zone column.
As Pat said the PT-22 certainly is inspirational, the landing gear work especially.

You could look at the digital version I haven't received the paper version as yet but the digital has been available.

What threw me was mention of the latest mag, and the Martin. The editor had enquired if the MO-1 was free plan size because he intended to run that, or the MS racer in the December issue. I rearranged the Martin so that it could be a free plan and assumed that was what you were talking about. Had I thought about it, I'd have realised that one isn't out until next month.
Now we can all wait and see which he goes with.

Fin & rudder framed up without much fuss.

I also wanted to add a few more shots of the wing as built to plan before I hack out the flaps. ...with pre-approval from Pete.
I'm gonna run the LE of the ails all the way through to R4, build the flaps just like the ails. Then cut them apart.

Pete, I'm lookin' over the ail servo install.
Is that a semi-permanent installation? There doesn't seem to be any hatch to get at it.
(I know the answer is gonna make me look stoopid)

...and what is that piece of foam that came with the kit for?

Yep, semi-permanent aileron servo installation. Use good quality servos and they should outlast the model. (They would the way I fly- by a long way)

As regards the rubber. If this were a WW1 model I'd say it was for the tyres, but it may actually be intended for cockpit coamings. Or it could be tyres anyway, even though it shouldn't be there.

Vicki probably put the neoprene cord in there cause we put it in with so many other kits. Use it or trash it as you desire.

Near the bottom of the rudder, where the laminated trailing edge transitions from being well supported to unsupported, there appears to be the beginnings of a fracture, where the extreme fibers of the laminations have been overstressed. If this is so, a small balsa fillet could extend the support.

I don't think that's a fracture, just an indentation in the balsa caused by a pin. It doesn't appear to go any further than that inside lamination, so I very much doubt it would be a problem.
