ya, I'll never do a flight out of visual los again without my name on there and some kind of recovery system, since anything can fail it will probably be one of those RF beacons that alsts for 70 days.. let me see about the launch coords sentry.. I don't know exactly...

I keep ahving these dreams where i look at my DV cam and go OMG I WAS RECORDING WHEW... recording would help me since i basically saw it heading towards the ground/trees before video cut out.

I remember after 1 or 2 of the next peaks from the peak i turned right and was only heading down for 10 maybe 15 seconds (time goes by weird under the goggles and adrenaline)... at about 60-80mph that's what.. 1-2000 feet? here's a view of the peaks i was trying to touch, and my best estimated flight path at this point.. how far i went down im not sure.. im hoping once i see the peaks in real life it will refresh my memory.

im pretty sure i hit two peaks after passing hte big gap from the first peak by willow lake. so it makes the most sense.

Were you still heading North when you lost video? Or were you inbound? Had you already made the inbound turn?

Did you ride the ridge of the second peak inbound? Or did you pass the 2nd peak continuing north?

I think i made an attempt to turn inbound.. but was heading more NE or NEE... buddy remembers home being to the right a bit.

can't remember after turning to the right after whichever peak. i just remember, trees trees trees tops of trees don't hit them.

I coudl have approache the peak not directly from the south and though i had turned straight home but was actually going NEisch like i said.

Here you go. The yellow line is the "ridge" (high point) that chopped off your LOS. The PARK pin is where I'd leave my car. From the PARK pin to the spot where your rig is is about .9 miles - but the terrain could be rough. Take a few buddies with you and some FRS radios.

If you right click each of the red lines and select "view elevation profile" you'll see that you BASICALLY will have LOS the entire line. That greatly helps you see the FEW spots that would have taken you out.

You had to be VERY low though to lose everything so fast - that's a good thing, meaning that the rig wouldn't have floated a few more miles away from last contact.

Get the app called "where's my car" for each of the searchers. This way they can use their phones to get back to the car(s) if they get separated/lost.
