Once it arrives I'll give that a test. Some folks are reporting 2-3km before the RSSI beeper goes crazy.

The other thing you can do is put the radio in range test. Then move away until the system loses link. You then measure that distance and do the math.
Sounds like that especially with FrSky link is plenty of range to start with

Futaba and Spectrum suggests placing the wires at a 90 degree angle. Usually in a V pointing straight up or straight down. Looking at IBC's thread on inverted V's he uses 120 degrees. He's facing the antenna forward.. Granted he's using the shielding from the cable as the ground. The last go around I followed Futaba's suggestion and had them pointing up at the sky at 90 degrees off on the wing.

I want to get some FPV formation flying going. There's enough channels in 5.8ghz that we can get something gong.

At SEFSD today...

Spent the afternoon with my son Tom at SEFSD.

For it's second flight, I flew my QUAD FPV for the first time.

We met Phil, who was flying a Disco on a KK board FPV. I was encouraged to see how his flew. I've got quite a bit to go before I'm flying like he was.

After getting all juiced up with the quad, we spent about an hour tooling around with our trusty BWEZ*.

My First FPV Quad Flight. (3 min 22 sec)

Baby steps. I've got a long way to go. Ecstatic I brought home an intact bird...

Any tips on how to dampen out altitude excursions. It is hovering at about 1/3 stick...I wonder if a heavier bird will help.

Suggestions.

you are running the the KK2 right?? Try bringing you throttle down in the stick scaling menu....i had to bring mine down to something like 75-80...maybe even lower...that will smootht the throttle out a bit...its like adding expo on oyur Tx, but in the FW on the kk2....

Just bring it down in like increments of 5 until it feels right...that was the one thing about the kk2 is that throttle is touchy....some people can do throttle curves in their tx and still be in aero mode...

I use the dx6i so in order to do throttle curves id have to set it up in heli which is not recommended i guess...

Indeed. It's a KK2.

Currently, throttle scaling is at 90. I'll reduce it.

Thanks!

yea...take it down to at least 80 to start...and then in increments of 5 there after...i was able to get my large quad to hover very nice on this board after finding that sweet spot on the stick scalling
