Bowkers new Extra 330

Hey Guys and Gals, I wanted to share a couple pics of my new Extra 330. This is with out a doubt my best flying indoor model to date. No wing rock, no KE coupling, Very axial rolls, Easy to hover, Excellent tracking and the list goes on....It really is an amazing airplane to fly. Video and more details to come shortly.

How to order: http://www.bowker-aircraft.com/extra-330-sc-depron/

Thanks for looking,
Chris

added a few pics of what should be the final kit, the basic set of milled parts is just 37g, this kit was milled just over 1/2.

A couple video's of me playing around with a milled 330 at the CAF fun fly, sorry about the glare

A milled freestyle plane? are you mad?

I wasn't really planning a vpp version, but the kit will come with pre-beveled nose braces commonly needed when doing vpp setups, its also a 34" model so it should have no issues hauling the extra weight...but you never know what the future will bring.

What sort of kid would be suitable on this? I assume the Extra 300 kit is not powerful enough for it? If not, does that mean its a 2 cell setup?

The one in the photo is a "full size" indoor foamie, 34" span. It's designed to run on the classic foamie setup, 15-20g motors, 5-10 amp esc, 4-9g servo(s) and 2s 240-400 mah batteries. Its not intended to be a replacement airframe like my ultra micro yaks are for the Horizon hobby UMX planes, tho I have been testing a 22" 330 for the UMX beast gear...more details on that when its ready.

My favorite setup on a model this size is:
AXI 2203/race
t-bird 6 esc
HS-65(ailerons) with the case stripped off/ or a futaba 3314 with the case intact.
hs-35's rudder and elevator

Hope this clears things up for you,
Chris

I assume you mean an S-3114. But why with only the case intact?

I prefer the 65 to the 3114, but! if you want to use the 65 on a serious indoor model, you have to strip the case down or it just weighs to much. So I recommend the 3114 to pilots that are not willing to strip the case off a servo since its not a bad aileron servo and its light enough in the case to be used, the difference in the two servo's is only in maybe the top 5% of the performance curve.

::soap box time::
IMO If you want everything you can get out of a 3mm foamie the hs-65 is the servo to use, there are a couple "extreme" maneuvers that the 3114 will not hold full deflection on, like the stationary flat spins you see me doing with my yak. Ive stripped 3 3114's in the air now all on sub 5 oz 34" or smaller foamies, all on the ailerons. two on my yak and one on an early 330 proto type. Proof of my opinion can be found among Dontas and Bruckmann who(if im not mistaken) both use the 65 now as a single aileron servo, as well as many others that don't have on orange....The only people I see saying the 3114 or its digital counter part are the best servo period are paid to do so...no one gives me servo's.

The materials for the kits are finally here and I'm happy to say the photo build is progressing nicely.

I got to fly my "kit test build" a little tonight at a local indoor I'm very happy with it and hope to have an add posted on my blog for the kits by Monday. Sadly I wont have any good indoor video until the after the CAF fun fly in midland in a couple of weeks. But I will try to get some video of an un-milled version flying outside before that....I'll do a proper thread for the model after the CAF fly-in as well.

Also it looks like the kits will be $53 un-milled and $70 milled,

I know I said I'd have an add for this kit up today...but with the order that came in over the weekend and finally hearing back from the car dealership this morning it will probably not happen until tomorrow.

Sorry about the lack of updates, Im in the process of buying a new Van that has just been eating up my time. But good news that seems to be in the past now(or after tomorrow morning it will be) and then I can get back to sorting construction photo's, until then here's a couple shots I took on my phone of the first run of 330 kits.
