Hi Ken...I'll certainly smooth out that airfoil before putting it back into the air...I'll have to do some measuring to see what kind of room I have for moving the motor back slightly...as long as I can get that battery on the centerline of the fuselage...that's my main goal

I'm building 4 jets, but they have full fuselages and are not for combat. Soon I'll be building one of these.

Ken, I designed this Before I was made aware of this thread... I'm a little bit bigger than your 150 Sq In rule depending on how I measure...

Sorry if this was answered earlier.... If it was, I couldn't find it...

You say you are running a 7x6 prop on the 1700kv BW with a 3S Battery. Do you still use the little 12Amp ESC with that setup?

I've incorporated many of the ideas that I gathered from the guys on the main SEMFF thread. I also changed the size of the Plan for MPF instead of $Tree foam. Here is the updated design.

EDIT: I'm removing the PDF plan. It just had too many problems. I'll have the revised edition up soon.

Ok. The first prototype is finished and ready to fly.
AUW ended up being 9.2 oz with a 1000mah 3S.
I'll try to get some video of a maiden flight later today, if the weather cooperates. Right now I have to go to my niece's dance recital.

Also, I've noticed some issues with the plans I posted above. The spacing of the firewall and prop slot is wrong.
Also, if you use a stick mount, the alignment tab is in the wrong spot. Either way, the motor mount area is just wrong. There are other issues as well. I'll be correcting these as time permits.

Ken. When this thing goes up in flames, all I'm going to have to say is "Ken said it could handle a 3s"
I just ran it up to HALF throttle for a few Seconds, and that motor got awful hot. Hopefully the airflow of actual flight conditions will keep everything cool enough.

The other obvious concern is if my thumbs can handle a 3s in this bird...

We'll find out soon enough.

You should have a smaller prop if you are going 3s. I don't think i would run it with a 7x6.

The maiden flight of my Combat F-22 didn't go so well. I think I have the CG set too far aft. It was very hard to control. I also think my battery was too far off center. It had a bad tendency to roll to the right.
Luckily I was able to bring it down without incident. I moved the battery forward, and tried again, but it wasn't enough. It was better, but still difficult to control. This time it ended up in a tree 25' up...
I recovered it from that hang up with nothing more than a couple wrinkles...
So, I'm going to add the bottom panel, which is entirely in front of the CG. I am also moving the servos in front of the prop slot.
