Looks very nice, is the whole outside of the model glassed with 3/4, and if so what did you use to fill the weave?

Hi Lt599,

In fact the glassing process i did is inside glassing not outside, and i use epoxi resin with fiber glass cloth 90 grams/m2. For the external gaps i use a gap filler then sanding a lot... :-)

Next step is painting!

The PDF files (mirage 2000_part#1.pdf and mirage 2000_part#2.pdf) are for 64 - 70mm and (mirage 2000_EDF90mm) are for 90mm, all in scale 1:1 and ready to print.

Does glassing the inside provide as much strength as glassing the outside? I've glassed a few planes but have never heard of glassing the inside of the plane. Also, do you ever end up with any gaps on your builds and if so how do you fill them or cover them.

stingeragents,

I think the strength is the same, but i don't like to sand resin + fiber glass, i put it inside just for convenience. Here in Brazil i found a gap filler mass used to cover gaps in walls, it is ultra light and matches foam color.

Humbertomelo, the plane looks great! thanks for making the plans available We have a light weight spackle over here that is probably the same thing. It is packaged under different names, "Fast and Final" , "Ready Patch" and probably others. It works great on foam. Did you seal the foam prior to paint? if not what paint did you use? , Greg (Lt599)

Lt599 A word to the wise on the Ready Patch. I used the stuff labled MH Ready Patch by Zinnser, on the foam plug for my F-86F. I seemed to work well untill I glassed the fuse. On J Morgans advice I used regular sheet rock compound for fill b-4 glassing. But I did have some Ready Patch that showed through. It seems it does not like epoxy!!! Every where I had used RP the foam got very soft or some what melted. Ended up cutting out all the RP and filling with Bondo.

Granted that was for a plug, but be carefull if you glass over it!!!.

Yes i did seal the foam before paint, it is just white acrylic paint then sand with fine grain then paint with acrilyc color.
