Nice and tidy. Diversity and all. I just use one little Rx on the back of my goggle strap with the antenna sticking up above my head. I will keep your set up in mind if I ever feel the need for more range. Currently, however, its my FrSky that starts beeping at me before I lose video. I checked on a map, I got about 2500 feet away before that happened. I do think I might have put a rock (ground) in between my aircraft and myself at some point.
Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks... the other thing that helps you on your range you don't have big trees where you fly just big rocks LOL

First Flights

I had a break in the rain so I ran out and did the first flight in the back yard.
Also placed my GoPro on the quad to see how smooth the video would be.
I will have to say I like this quad a lot. Flight got cut short a few times by stepping in an ant bed LOL. Thought they were all gone had to land a second time ...
Guess I missed a few.
Here are a few short flights put in one video.
Maybe you can get an idea on how well it flys. I may need to do some fine tunning
being that I just used stock settings on my MultiWii.
I hope to get a little FPV in soon... Should be fun.

Anyway enough of the chatter... On with the video...

Nice job, you had to dodge the cop on the road -- and the ant hill. Nice flying into the carport too. I have some FPV footage I am building up, but nothing too exciting yet. I will share it soon. I will try and get some more in at my local park tomorrow.

Thanks.... I really want to try out my new FPV gear... But weather still sucks.
I think this is one of my smoothest flying quads I have built yet.
And I am using GemFan props too. Can't wait to try the 9x5 Graupners when they come in.
Thanks for making such a good quad frame, it went together pretty easy. Also the open area in the middle of the frame makes running wires very easy.

I will be using 9x5 props when they come in, so I made my motor arms 14", this will keep the props from spinning over the main body of the quad.
The main arms are 11" just to keep a good distance between motors. If you were using 8x4.5 or 8x5 you could use 10" for the
main frames and 12" on the motor booms.

Mine are 12 inches for the front and back. 10inches in the frame. That gives you 12 inches square.

I been collecting video flights for the past couple of weeks. About 11 flights and 4 different locations went into this video.

Fpv crash

Nice flying there...

I had a few flights today... But my first FPV flight with the new quad ended in a crash....
It was flying great..... even thought we had some 15 mph wind gust.
I was flying at a local field, having a good time until, the sorry Nano Tech decided to die 3 + min into my flight. Most of the time I get 6 min + with my spider quad so I thought nothing about 3 min and it shutting down.
As you can see on the video all was fine until the low voltage buzzer went off and my quad went down. I throttled up , but it was falling like a rock.
It took a while to find it. But the lost plane buzzer made it much easier. We drove close to where we thought it went down. And just started listening for the buzzer. We hear it... Saw it across a creek in a tree. Had to drive my truck through the creek to get to it. My good friend climbed the tree to get it for me. Had to use a long stick to get it down.
Boy was I lucky, the only thing I had to fix was a bent landing tube and 2 props that cracked. The frame is rock solid, no damage at all. I flew the quad 2 more times after the crash.
NO MORE NANO TECH's for ME.... That is the second time I had one go bad. And the bad thing is I only have 30 cycles on the battery.

Anyway here is the video of the flight and crash. Along with the tree rescue.... LOL

Pretty funny seeing it be rescued with the FPV footage...

Where did you source your arms from?

I went to Lowes, that way I could hand pick the wood and get only the straightest sticks.

This is where I get my wood for the arm:
https://www.magnumwood.com/cart/Prod...?ProductId=942

The link is also found on the xRotor IFrame product page. The wood is super high quality and they ship fast.

I ordered both Bass and Poplar -- every one of them was straight and smooth.

Anyone using a GoPro HD2, a new firmware is out. Ups the bitrate to 35Mbps, and adds more frame rates to 1080p. The difference is substantial.

Here is a sample. Sorry about the jello, the 1080 setting is not forgiving in the wind.
