How dumb are you?

Hi All well this is how DUMB I am. All summer and early fallI have been carrying a 5.5mm wrench to remove GWS props when it occurs to me this week that the new prop can be used as a wrench to remove the broken prop and the broken one can be used to tighten the new one. DOH Best Regards

Well, I don't need to carry that wrench anymore. I'd already read of using a broken prop as a wrench, but never put 2 and 2 together.

Thanks Bleriot.

Take a broken prop and file down the prop to make it about 3" long. Then use sandpaper to take the sharp edge of the rest of the blade. Now you have a "free" wrench that will take up almost no room in your gear box. I say "free" because unfortunately I have a bunch of them since my GWS 9x7 props broke about every 5-10 flights. I finally got tired of replacing them and switched to the APC slowflyer series. I've logged about 40 flights on one prop with no breakage! I like the 9x6 but 8x6 or even 10x7 might also work.

Sounds more like genius to me. Thanks Bleriot. I never would have figured that out in a million years.

One word, one tool, leatherman.

But I really like the prop idea, why didn't I think that. We're dumb, not you Bleriot.

If I did survive to 105.. Nope, wouldn't have guessed that one. I wonder how many other undiscovered tricks like that there are lurking in our flight box?

I Never broken a GWS prop after flying 6 months with my Pico Stick FD. The key to this is FLARE, FLARE on landings. Keep your prop off the Ground.

We wouldn't want anyone to feel left out.

All you have to do to break a prop is switch to the 9x7.

And then make a one-point landing, right on the nose. Sometimes these things happen because of ...aahh... would you believe, the wind or trees!
I know, I know, you'd have to be dumb to fly in wind or into trees.

I think we're the slow ones. I've got two broken 9x7 on the work bench. I'm in the process of adding a counter weight by the hub on one of them and making it a single blade prop kind of like the ones I used years ago on some CL planes. Probably not worth it on something that turns as slow these little motors, but it will be fun to try. The other one is going back in the field box and is now going to be called " prop wrench ".

GWS new prop EP9070 already modified the root stronger! may be arrivial USA ready?

But I have to start to worry about: Don't fly near the kids, pls.

My fingers and hands has a lot of propepplers cut records in the past 31 years since I strated fool arround with model engines. But no fingers cut away still 10!

However, still much lucky than other friend in Taiwan, lost a lot of his fingers cut by Ultralight Aircraft ( Rotex 503, 46HPs.)

I always have to remain you: SAFTY is important to keep RC modellings popular.
