That is awesome. I want to see that one fly. Keep us posted on how it does.

Pix are after the maiden flight test, you can see the kinks on the nose..... It flew a gentle glide to the ground about 15 times just couldn't get it to climb out of ground effect. It acts just like when Dan helped me get the big F22 flying at swarm we had a 8x4 prop and it just wouldn't get going, Dan put a 8x6 on it and presto... Off it went. the mini me has a 6x4 and is acting the same way it basically glides but won't fly??? Parts were scammed from an old CX2 (mini servos, 7.4v 800ma battery & motor) Had an old speed control & mixer from the Zagi & an orange RX . I'll pick up a prop and try it again . Stay Tuned

Try taking one of the 7x6 props and trimming it down about 1/2 inch on each blade.

Alright... I'm over thinking cg.

About 1 inch ahead of the front of the servos? I've got everything but the battery installed, and experimenting with the battery shows I can get cg there. Just checking before I set it up.

Nice full throws on the radio, elevons flap nice and smooth. Hopefully I'll get this one flying nice like the first few flights of the last one.

I measured the CG on mine about 8 and a half to 9 inches back for the leading edge of the main wing near the fuse.

Thanks! I'll aim for that as well then. Just wanted to make sure I get the obvious stuff right.

Dan-
What servos are you using on your F22
I find it odd that some folks are having so much trouble getting the F22 to fly well.
I'm wondering if the MG90 servos may not have enough torque for this application and the large throws that it needs...

I'm using PowerHD 1171 servos.
They look to be a direct copy of the HS82MG servos that were originally recommended for the Assassin.
I use them as a drop in replacement for the 82MG.

Great servo and the cost is much easier to swallow than the HiTec units

The first one I made had HS55 knock off servos. They don't need a lot. I've flown it with the mg90's. I think they are my favorite for this plane. I sold that one RTF to someone. He's still flying it.

The one I have now has MG?? I can't remember exactly.

My guess why some are having problems is the throws aren't high enough. I built one with longer control horns and not as much throw. It flew lousy. I drilled holes closer to the wing and increased the amount of throw and it was a totally different plane.

The proper amount of throw for this looks unnatural. I keep mine at 100% travel. I think the natural tendency is to want to tone them down. Not a good idea.

Yeah- I actually turn the throw up to 125% in the radio settings.

If they fly fine with the blue 9 gram generic servos then the MG90S should work fine...

Just thinkin out loud...

I need to meet up with Ryan and take a look at his. I know he was having problems. It's going to be something simple, and probably obvious to those of us that have flown this.
