I'm normally one for 'live and let live' however a guy turned up recently at the sports field I fly at with a large Zagi style flying wing with a folding prop on the back and a Hacker A30 motor. What an awful noise that thing made! It almost had me running for cover and I used to fly un-silenced glow motors! I'd say 'obnoxious' would be a totally fair description of the ear splitting noise it made.
The sports field where I fly is surrounds by housing and much used by dog walkers as well as organised football games. I've never even once had any issues flying my (roughly 50" span) electric 3D models. Most people in fact just seem interested, stand and watch or come over for a chat, and ask the usual questions. I just know for sure if the guy with the noisy Zagi makes a habit of flying there the complaints will start and that will be another field lost. In fact if I lived in one of the nearby houses and he was flying there regularly I'd probably put in a complaint the noise was that bad.
The guy flying it I've talked to before and he's a really nice guy, so I'm not classing all who fly Zagi's as 'rude punks'. But as far as the plane itself is concerned then I've got to say that I agree with the OP, in some respects at least... Sorry.
