OMG!!! That's the best flight this week! Man.... I wish I have a Ornithopter that would fly just like that.

That was truly inspirational Mr. Kakuta.

Hi Dr Kazu the gliding ability of your bird is amazing it also produces a lot of thrust to do a upwards loop congratulations regards Brian

hai friends.. i am from india and just a beginner in rc world..
trying to make an rc ornithopter for last 6-7 months and now i got enough knowledge and started with its frame gearbox etc..
body lenght 26" overall
wingspan planning for 42"
5000kv outrunner with gear reduction
and planning to use 2s lipo only
same mechanism as a slow hawk kind of..
can you guys please help me out for a wing material for me.. dont know which kind of material to use and availability in india..
i am really confused..
using 2.5mm(or 3mm) cf rods for wings

A membrane for hot-air balloons
Thin foaming polypropylene

sir i think i can go for polyethylene film which is available here in my place...
no idea about the other things...
one more doubt is that should i want to stick all the wing spars together and cover it with polyethylene film?
i am using cf rods for ma wings..

sir will provide my ornithopter details.. its completely scratch build(incomplete)
will update image lateron
motor: 5000kv outrunner
30A esc
25" length
50" wingspan
lipo: 2s(500-900 mah)
2 metal gear servo(13gm)

gear system is handmade using micro bearings and 3mm shaft.. through my calculation in no load it can produce almost 8fps flap rate when 2s lipo is used..

wings are made of polythene film and carbon rod(3mm main spar and 2.5mm support rods)

the auw will come around 400 grams min(in ma calculations)
please provide me the changes needed and guide me...

Look attached file.
It is necessary carbon rods to put on wing membrane by the material of a membrane using double-stick tape.

You can easily fix wing Carbon by PEline.
