Speedo MOM races at Kanan Hill, Agoura Hills Sept 23
Come on out and join us for another round of races at Kanan Sunday, Sept 23. The wind usually picks up around 3:00 pm this time of year. I'll be there around 2:00. Bring your race planes and anything else you want to fly! Two locations for mild DS available as well.

Directions to Kanan Hill;
Located about 20 minutes from 101/405 interchange
From San Fernando valley area;
Head north (actually west) on 101
Exit Kanan road, turn right
Head north on Kanan for 3.3 miles
Make U turn at Churchwood dr.
Park on Kanan rd. facing east near the stairs made of railroad ties
Hike the trail to the flat spot along the ridge
From Ventura/Santa Barbara area
Head south on 101
Exit Lindero Canyon rd. turn left
Head north for 2.9 miles
Turn right on Kanan rd.
Drive 0.8 mile and park on right side just past Churchwood dr.
Hike up stairs made of railroad ties and follow the trail up the ridge.

I finally squeezed in some bench time last night even if it meant losing some sleep. I got into the garage a bit past 11 and was happily gluing and repairing away until past 1:00AM. I managed some repair work on my original Speedo fuse last flown wonderfully at North Face in 40-50mph winds, but with a less than desirable pin point landing. The fuse was and is rock solid since it is CF socked but the tail section which is bare was what you would call "flexible" and needed some help.
Secondly I repaired the "smile" in my yellow Speedo wing (1st place Speedo at the Lunada Bay Event) which had a slight cockeye'd landing at Bluff Park and for some reason the nylon bolt carved a nice smile into the wing instead of breaking like it was supposed to. To anyone reading this I would highly recommend poking a few holes with a pin or needle into the ply (or is that balsa?) in the two indents of each wing half where the bolts go through and then soaking it with CA. Especially with the more recent wings I have noticed this to be a weak point and have had to make similar repairs on my last two wings.
The matching yellow fuse also had some saddle cracks as I was not able to reinforce this area with carbon tow when I first assembled it due to the odd wing receiving bolt location which took up a ton of room in the tiny fuse. I've CA'd the cracks and sanded the outside and will probably opt for reinforcing the outside with CF tow and trying to cover up with some glass and paint.
My goal this race is to perform the maiden of the plane I plan to fly prior to the actual race day So far I'm 0 for 2 though. Anyone else making repairs or preparations?
P.S. Will this momentum carry on enough to resurrect the Frankeinspeedo? Who knows, stay tuned.
