Metal gear shaft too long for heng long tiger tank

My plastic gears on one side of my Heng Long 1/16 scale Tiger broke so I bought a metal replacement. But, the shaft is too long.

Am I doing something wrong? Anyone know the fix for this? The old gears are on the left and the new gears are on the right.

Thanks beforehand.

All you can do is get a short shafts and replace the long shafts. If you pay for the mail I will send the part at no cost

Thank you for the kind offer. Before I do that, could I just swap out the short shaft in my old one (in the photo) to where the long one is?

I've had very bad luck with that metal gears. First one and few time later the other, both got out of order due to lack engagement between adjacent wheels. Don't know if I'm explaining my problem well. Now I'm saving some money to buy the new brass gears.

The final drive gear can be changed out and is not that hard. Use a 1/2" drive deep socket and tap the gears off the shafts. Once you get the metal gear you can tap the gear on the short shaft. Note the brass bushing with the metal gear can be changed out. The brass bushing has to spin on the shaft when done.

I have left & right metal gearboxes with short shafts which I'm sending back for refund, and I'm looking for metal gearboxes with long shafts. If you try to remove the gear, you may damage the shaft. Regards Geoff.
