Mini-HowTo
Model Airplane Building Clinic #2 ~ Building From Plans >> Begins TBD. All Welcome
On the heels of Model Airplane Building Clinic #1, for my next clinic would like to focus on building a model airplane from plans.
I have looked for a found an easy build that would also be fun to fly. As a matter of fact, this little beauty looks like it would be a great plane for a number of club members to build and fly. It is called the E-Quickie 200. The plans are in revision right now and when they are ready for prime time, I will post the link. Looking forward to this clinic/project and I am posting this pretty far in advance to folks can clear their tables and calendars for what looks to be an exciting build. Plans for the E-Quickie 200 can be ordered from here: http://www.theolddog.net/Plans_and_Wings.html The pre-cut foam wings can be ordered from here: http://www.mwcores.com/servlet/Detail?no=220 Right now there is a special going on. The first set cost $8, the next one $4. I'm not sure what the third one will cost. I'll ask when I order mine tomorrow. Frank Participants: 2. mjcmyers 3. glazzies 4. cwolfe 5. Red Zephyer 6. UberZogster 7. potshot 8. Greg Knipp 9. 10. For those wanting a balsa wing in lieu of the foam sheeted wing see below: Quote:

Awesome! Thanks for joining in the fun. I have been told that the plans are being updated and will let you know when they are ready.
I will also start adding the names in post #1 when I get the chance. Someone asked "how do you get people back to building?" I think the answer is "make it funner." ![]() Frank |

I'll do it, as long as I can work slowly and fit it in between other stuff.

BTW is anyone a member of RCU? I wonder if we should post something over there as well? Is there a large audience for builders over there? Would it be worth the effort to support a thread over there also?
Thanks, Frank |

That is my plan. I have no way to cut foam.

Good news. I found out that we can get the foam wings cut for $21 for two wings shipped. I may go that route.
I'll post all the contact info when the plans are finalized. Just trying to keep you guys up to speed. This should be a fun build and if you know or hear of anyone that may be interested in learning how to build from plans, send them our way. Thanks, Frank |

This sounds like a great learning opportunity. Just to be clear on this project, as I understand it everyone involved will be building the same plane. Except for the possibility of buying foam wings mentioned above, we'll be getting other supplies locally. Are those correct assumptions? And do you have any pictures of a completed E-Quickie 200?

I was looking at the eq200 and the specified wing is foam so I was wondering what is being planned for the build. I would prefer to make a built up wing.
