I've been flying my Outlaw e-converted for several years now. I'm using a Hacker A40-16S motor, 5s 4000, Castle Ice 75, and an 8x8 prop. I don't think I'm getting 120 MPH speeds as I swear my FJU is faster but it's certainly no slouch. The Outlaw is heavy with that big pack. I'll have to check with Hacker to see if that motor is 6s capable and maybe prop down a bit.

I guess he's the one I got the carbon tunnel from. Channels air right over the battery and the components come down cool.

Hey guys, I've been following this thread and just picked up a rebuilt Outlaw to convert to e-power. I used to have one with an OS32SX glow motor and it hauled the mail pretty well and I would like to get about the same speed on my e-setup. Any updates on e-power setups? Are you guys happy with the 2820's or is the 3542's giving more speed? It seems to me as you go to bigger motors and batteries there is going to be a trade off in weight vs. speed.

mine and Herc's go about 120mph. I like this setup as it is fast reliable and does not require many mods.

Well after the Frosty and a few flights last week i have killed yet another motor.

So after burning up 2 of these http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...50kv_700W.html

I am looking for a better option. Anyone got any suggestions. This is a setup that I had in my MPX Blizzard that ran flawlessly for a long time. However I think that my Extreme Flight outlaw is heavier so it is killing my motors. Need a replacement that is no wider , but could be longer. Right now I am running it in a 9x9 prop on 4 cells. Maybe I just need to prop down to a 9x7? I would lik eto stay at 4 cells so I dont have to buy another battery.

Time to revive this thread!

BigMo/Chris, I'm just getting around to starting my e-conversion on my Outlaw. I'm going to try the:

Aerodrive SK3 3542-1185kv motor.
Turns: 10T
Voltage: 3~4S Lipoly
RPM/V: 1185kv
Internal resistance: 0.024Ohm
Max Loading: 49A
Max Power: 730W
Shaft Dia: 5.0mm
Bolt holes: 25mm
Bolt thread: M3
Weight: 141g

I'll start with 4s and then move to 5s if it holds up. If it doesn't work, I'll either go with either an Eflite 25-1250kv, a Motrofly, Hacker, or the EF Torque Chris (Herc) is using.

I'll let you know how it goes, once I get the conversion done and maiden it.

Where is everyone on this thread???

BigMo, I finally got around to maidening the e-powered Outlaw yesterday. Using the Aerodrive SK3 3542-1185kv motor it flew great! No issues with the power system. Not as fast as my .32 glow engine but it should be close once I get the optimum prop/battery combo. I used a 9x6 for the first few flights just to get used to it again. I need to check my amp draw before I go up to a 9x9 APC prop. I'm using 4s-4000mAh and will test the amp draw on 5s down the road if my esc can handle it. I'm only using a 60A with separate BEC currently and might need to go up to a 85 or 100A if I go 5s. Engine and ESC were not even warm after the flight, so I should have some room to experiment. I flew four flights before it got to dark out. I had to lower the aileron throw on low rates and up the expo, I forgot how touchy the ailerons were. Lots of smiles and lots of compliments! Anyway, it flew great, decent power and handled great. Later, DG

well I switched mine over to a Eflite power 25. It worked great on 4 cell9x7.5 prop. However I got hungry and tried a 9x9 prop and over amped and it cut off and I flat landed a little hard. I need to repair it now. I will since they are now out of stock.

Dano, send Mike a PM, maybe he can let you know what he liked/disliked about his setup (similar to yours except for the motor kv). 6s might require the carbon fiber tunnel conversion that C/F sells due to pack height.http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...2#post13280080. Let us know how it turns out, nice to have options.

BigMo, 6 flights now on the Aerodrive without issue using the 8x6 APC (cool to touch). Soon I'll be trying a 8x8 or 9x9 APC. If I don't burn it up, I'll step back to 9x6 and try 5s The 9x6 on 4s is zippy and keeps you on your toes, about like the OS25 glow I originally used, but not as quick as the OS32sx glow motor/mousse can pipe setup I upgraded to. Best to send him a private message, not sure he monitors this thread. Also, not sure if you are calling him a jerk, or if that is your nick name (signature). If it's the first, I don't think that will help move things along for ya. Just sayin'
