Theyconly cost 2 or 3 bucks so certainly worth getting a few to experiment with........
Good enough for me, I'll order one up and give it a try. Thanks!

Is your BL15 the 3200kv or 3600kv version, and how many cells are you using? What size ESC?

Just wanted to share my expereince with this motor. Running in a Habu 2, Castle Creations Ice 100 mounted in intake (12deg pwm, med timing), WeMo midi fan, Glacier 30C 3300mAh 6S battery. 1st 3 flights performance was OK, 4th flight motor stuttered badly. I cut throttle, dead sticked in, motor smelled burned, visually inspection showed blacked windings - primarily at fan end of motor. I originally purchased the Velocity/edf hobbies 2950kv motor because it was a few $$ cheaper then what seemed like similar motors. I got great service from edf hobbies and wouldn't hesitate to buy from him again, but I'm replacing this with a Velocity High Performance Motor V28-60-2900 from Gary at EffluxRC.

I also just wanted to share my experience with this motor...

My 2950kv edf spark show (2 min 34 sec)

The sad part is that this is the third replacement motor/fan combo to do this and I have actually been paying the extra money to have this mounted and balanced so that I can have a trouble free experience.

Is that from EDF Hobbies or Efflux RC? I'm beginning to think that they're not the same motor. What fan & cell count is that?

2950kv motor, WeMo mini pro, on 5s all mounted and balanced from edfhobbies for the tune of roughly $160.

I'm not sure what to do at this point.

The real McCoy's shouldn't do that. If you're looking for a replacement, get it from Gary at Efllux RC who carries genuine Velocity-RC motors. The EDF Hobbies ones are listed as 29mm, the velocity ones are 28mm.

Sorry, I am confused by that statement. The title of this thread, the motor in discussion, and edfhobbies... are you suggesting that I have bought imitations?

See post #30. "The Velocity-RC motor is 2900 kv. If the motor does not have a RED, Velocity-RC sticker on it, it's not a Velocty motor."

It's essentially a thread about a counterfeit motor, yes.

How many run ups before the sparks?

> 3000 watts through the EDF Hobbies 2950kv motor, not the slightest indication of burnt windings...

CS 10 blade rotor, EDFHobbies 2950kv motor, 6s, 3000watts 7lbs of thrust (2 min 17 sec)

This is the first time in this thread that is has been said that these motors are counterfeit. I do realize that Gary had made mention of the difference by way of the label but that happened after I had already been mislead by the competitor's website product description. Add to that the confusion caused by many people telling me that what I have are the good motors when really everyone has been bamboozled.
What it seems like is I have walked in on a joke where I am the last to understand the punchline. And I have based an entire build around an ill advised motor recommendation.
I should have dealt with efflux RC from the beginning and maybe this wouldn't have happened. But at the time I didn't know the difference and by looking at two foreign websites who is to say which one is counterfeit?
All the times I had posted my problems and not taking heed to the right advice, I apologize to everyone for that.

I've used and abused these motors for a while, I've had none of this experience with them.

They've eaten 2000 watts all day with CS rotors, Wemos etc...

I think HorD is still running his at 6lbs of thrust with the eflight rotor

You ever had an issue where the motor leads get pulled upon from the fan thrust? Talking to edfhobbies today and he was inquiring about the way the esc is attached and how it might be pulling on the motor leads. Is there any particular way to mount an esc behind the motor so as to not cause damage?
