Learning to find and stay with thermals in the wind has been something I've spent a big part of the last summer on. I will agree that it's not easy and if it gets windy enough darn near impossible for me. Yet, I've seen some better pilots work in the wind a lot better than I do so I know it can be done and that I have a lot left to learn.

Flew 2-practice sessions, focusing on qt's which I've never really been able to do respectably.catching the tip and peg really consistently is no prob, and I've got a smooth way to have my preset on.but I just can't seem to to get a seamless turn around! My qt's are between 4-5 sec, I've done a few in 3- sec but not consistantly . I feel like I may never see a 1.5 sec turn round!
That's what keeps it fun ,the challenge never ends
Make my words, ill get a my 1.5-2sec qt's and my grade10

Flew 1S for about an hour. Had no issues, but I'm still wondering why I'm doing it as I've never had any issues with regulators

finally got my NEOS light back in the air after some "issues" crash and burnt out servos.

tested the repair at lunchtime - goes sweet - bit windy - probably 20kph+ - hooked some good wave lift and just stayed in it foe about 5-10 min - got to about 250-300m then bailed as I was over some commercial buildings....

rest of the time I was fighting turbulence - but had a few good flights..... love teh NEOS!!

Jon - You are the man to watch. I won't think about 1s until you haven't crashed your plane for 6 months.

Finally sat down and input my flight modes in my Stobel. Used Jun's youtube video as my guide. But going back to work tomorrow so no flying every day anymore

Well i got my throws a bit higher with the momentary launch switch and more energy into the through but then I started to lose trim and it turns out I broke it. The ailerons are coming away from the foam. The skin is intact but pealed away from the foam on the inside of the wing. Anyone have a quick fix for this?

yep - take some thin epoxy and rub it on the surface of the affected area - it will soak in. LEAVE IT until it sets.

I just did this on my NEOS on some delam and it worked sweet - you only need a little bit of epoxy - but make sure its thin.......you can heat it to make it runny

Take a picture and post it in a new thread and I'm sure people offer up all sorts of good suggestions for the fix.

I first tried some superglue, but it came apart again, so next time I used standard Elmers carpenters glue I had on hand. Clamped it while drying and it is still together after a few months.

Today, on the east coast, I loaded my DLG into the car hoping to get a couple flights at lunch time. And last night I ordered a new LightWave IV and dreamed about Spring in New England.

Since my maple leaf is out until i fix the delaminated ailerons i threw my poly 2 ch after work and got my momentary launch switch settings sorted out. I have right rudder and some up elevator on the momentary switch but when the elevator is trimed for leval flight (off momentary switch) it is too much up with the launch and it loops the glider so i put a cruse mode on a switch and I launch with the momentary than when I let the switch go I have a bit of down in the elevator so it continues up and dosn't loop then at the top i push it over and hit the cruse switch which puts me back on a good flat glide path. It was a good session and it gets the blood going after sitting all day at work.
Maple leaf : Tonight i'm going to squirt medium foam safe ca onto the gaps and weight the wing down with bags of sand overnight.

Really glad to see this thread is still going, hopefully inspiring people to "do stuff" with their DLG's daily I havent added anything constructive to the conversation lately, so I guess I'm due. I recently picked up a Taboo XL Poly, thats right, a circa 2003 rare-to-still-find-in-one-piece bird, and its beautiful. I'd say museum quality possibly. I've been working on it a little here and there, balancing it and converting it to LiFe and 2.4, but quite frankly, I'm almost a bit scared to throw it! I'm torn between tossing it and just hanging it in the ceiling as a piece of display art
