Rustler vxl or any good brushless ST is a good way to go too. If you want more off road capability add a set of 2.2 monster truck wheels to it.

The Rustler already comes with 2.8" wheels...its 2WD and easier to maintain compared to SC 4X4...for stability of coz 4X4 is more stable compared to 2WD..

Why are you looking at hop ups before you even have the truck?? I don't understand buying hop up parts before seeing what even needs upgrading?

More on topic to your question, the best value seems to be just getting the metal top caps for the stock traxxas shocks.

IMO, if you're going to NEED to upgrade it right away you should be looking at something that better suits your needs instead.

The stock shocks on a Rustler are very good, unless you're taking it off huge jumps you won't have any issues.

budget..LOL..as my initail thread subject goes SC10 or Slash 4X4, but i changed my mind at last to get the Rustler after watching all reviews and videos..I just like the body and big wheels..LOL..I don't do jumps..but the stock shocks is not threaded to adjust ride height..hmmm..

For the hopups, mostly are RPM stuffs..I'm from the other side of your world, so aluminium hop-ups are difficult to get unless order direct from US..
