L/D ratio and glide ratios
This figure doesnt seem to be spelled out as clearly in RC sailplanes as it is in regular gliders/sailplanes. What are some of the better rc's getting and what would be typical in some of the starter models?
I would think RC sailplane designers could do very well.

Dean Gradwell gave me a number of 20 to 1 to use on coursework calculate final glide. This is pretty good for the competitive planes we are using. I keep that number in my head and have my spotter start calculating when to push for the finish depending on what we have run into on course. Beyond that you can open up xflr5 and start plugging in known planes just to comPare

Several years ago John Ellias published a polar of his glider as actually measured in dead air with a GPS. Later, Dan Edwards did his own research and during the process verified what John had found. Both reports and comparative polars can be seen on this page.
