Hi
Have been watching this thread for a couple of weeks or so, and have a question that I know you can help with

Which version of the Supra do you have?? Older or the newer F5J version?

I have the newer F5J version and thought a Hacker B-40 w/ Gearbox would be fine. But it turns out to be way too nose heavy as it weighs around 6oz. The newer fuse has the servos in the nose on a shelf instead of the tail

What are my options?

All the best,

Bill

I too have the F5J fuse with servos (DS368 for stab, DS285 for rudder) on the deck. This leaves no place to put the battery other than behind the deck (under the wing) in order to minimize the weight in the tail to balance the plane. I ended up with about a 24 g slug in the tail. All up weight with a TP 1300 65C motor battery and Hyperion 850 LiFe flight pack battery is 68 oz. Not bad considering and the plane flies fine.

The batteries are mounted on a brass tongue that anchors to the rear edge of the deck, and must be inserted with the nosecone removed. Not a simple, quick change, but possible between ALES rounds.

If I were to do it again, I would get the conventional e-rudder and put the stab/rudder servos in the tail, the flight pack battery under the wing, allowing the motor battery to be quickly/easily changed by mounting it on the deck.

Did you guys order directly from Reisenauer or is there someone here in the US that carries that motor set-up?

I think that is the way to go.

Many thanks,

Bill

I don't know of anyone in the U.S. Just as easy to order from Reisenaur which is what I'm going to do. Probably be here in about 10 days from when I order.

When I ordered my Supra I chose to go with the long nose fuse and not the newer one. Looks like it may have been the better choice.

I think your right on that mark.
A friend has the older version with a Hacker B-40 and it does just fine! Balance wise and flying. He let me fly it once and I was really impressed. So much that I had to order the fuse. I already have a Supra Pro.

I guess the Dragonfly Strong is going into the corner........Naaaaaah too good of a flyer

All the best

Here is a very good power setup for Maxa, Ava Pro Flapped, Aspire
Etc.....Hacker A6 20XL with 16x10 prop and TP 1300 4 cell pack. This gives you 200 meters in 16 to 17 seconds....what more do you want....

Just did my own number crunching on this A20 setup on propCalc. I come up with 325 watts at the motor. Hardly seems to be enough power to get a 60+ oz plane up to 200 meters in 17 seconds.

God love 'em. If motor selection wasn't confusing enough, Hacker sells two different A20-6XL's -- a 10 pole motor rated at 2500 Kv and an 8 pole motor rated at 3500 Kv. This will result in a significant difference in the selection of optimal propeller and battery. Don't ask me how I know.

Thanks a lot, Hacker.

Happy Landings,

Don

Don't know which one I have (A20-6XL, 16-10, TP 3S 1300mah 65C), but I get 425 Watts static. For my 68 oz e-Supra that comes to 100 Watts/lb, and plenty enough to get to 200M in 20 seconds.

Is that with a gearbox? Even a 2500KV motor would have difficulty swinging a 16x10 prop on 4S I think.

Yeah, 4:1 gearbox. Sorry for the confusion.

Guys, that A20 motor for both the Supra and Tragi are just really nice setups, they do work. I am flying just as JT is on 3S and 16/10.
