There are quite a few missing I-54 hulls out there.
I can imagine hearing of one selling at an estate sale for as low as $200.00 !
The vintage ProBar fittings on them are the best.
Tragedy came to the Don Prough, maker of ProBar sailboat products.
He was killed in a traumatic car accident in the late nineties .
His company, ProBar, died with him.
His autistic son brilliantly assembled a lot of the products. Sort of a "Rainman" genius .
I'm hoping to locate a cache of ProBar fittings, someday.

Regards,
Giovanni

Yes, we need to do that. However, with about only 104 hulls produced and several of those lost to accidents and garage fires, it is going to be difficult until we can get the boat back into production. As you have seen on the SBOD thread, once someone can actually buy a new boat, the interest picks up quickly.

Adrian Olson of Adrian Olson GRP in Watsonville has the molds, but for whatever reason(s) has been very slow to do much with them. He has had "Coming Soon!" on the Infinity section of his webpage (modelyachting.com) since he purchased the company from George Ribeiro in Jan 2007 and today I could not connect at all to his site (could be temporary...I hope).

This may be one of those chicken/egg things; you cannot get buyers until you post a price and without a posted price people won't show interest.

Rounding up existing hulls as Giovanni suggests may be the only way to do it. That and getting some more racing going - Region 6 CR in addition to the NCR maybe?

I don't know I he wants to sell it but George Pedrick Jr. has one - might be worth an ask?

Sully,
I am working on George. Want his talent and great personality to come back and sail his boat. He is an asset to any class he sails in. It would serve the I 54 much more for George to resume sailing his boat again rather than have him sell it. Ryan

Giovanni,
So when are you gonna get that boat sailing again? Do you have any pictures to post of your boat? Ryan

Just have to finish building my sailwinch and then I will be sailing.
Kind regards,
Giovanni

I have exchanged my 4 ProBar rigging turnbuckles with Pekabe. They are like fine jewelry and make it so easy to rig.

What do you guys think would be the best way to motivate Adrian to put the Infinity 54 on his website and build a boat or two on spec? This seems to be the surest way to grow the fleet.
Any ideas? Does our class secretary want to weigh in? Ryan

He has a hard time building and supplying the ODOM class, good luck trying to get this done.

Yes.
All original, except rigging turnbuckles.
John Amen built this boat for free, then told me that he would tune it in a few races. He actually raced it in the nationals and took first place. It was on the cover of AMYA Magazine. He was a little reluctant to turn it over to me.
I am going to produce a run of 24 clear hatch covers next spring.
There are a few that have gone missing.
I am going to machine some stainless steel mast heels, as well.
These are what you call the Achilles Heel of the I-54 mast design.
Kind regards,
Giovanni

I'm still working on my sail-winch.
Are you going to the Sub Regatta?
