Forgot to mention that the maiden went very well. She flies great - very stable, knife edges surprisingly well for a round fuse plane and snappier than my flat sided full fuse EPP planes. She's definitely a keeper. I uploaded a couple videos of maiden day (skipped the maiden flight video, though - too boring watching someone trim out their plane).

More mixed flying with my Skywing/Wattaplane 48in EPP Edge 540 (5 min 7 sec)

Skywing/Wattaplane 48" EPP Edge 540 - Slow Flight (5 min 20 sec)

Nearly finished mine.
Anyone got any ideas on the landing gear bolt situation?

Jboy, your plane looks great!

As with the Skywing's, the stab goes in with a bead of scotch on the outside quite well

Nac gave me this tip saying that if you ever want to sell the plane you can remove the stab more easily to make the plane more compact for postage

Not that ill ever be selling this plane!
Hi Dave,

You don't even need to use that much glue for the stab IMHO. I put much less glue and drove the it inside the joint with a toothpick so that it became invisible.

Cheers,

Max

No worries, thanks for the tip Max

I should be enjoying the flying qualities of this plane within the next 24 hrs providing the weather permits!

I just got to the point of putting the gear on last night and the nut would only thread on the axle as far as the nyloc portion. I finally gave up on it and used an old pair of axle's from a 3DHS edge I had in my parts bin. I was lucky I had them, nice thing is they weigh next to nothing compared to the heavy ones that came in the kit.

Hey jetintguy,

I just put the landing gear on too and was pondering weather to PU glue in the carbon gear and strengthen the surrounding area. Could make things ugly during repair after a crash though. Not that I plan to crash,..

I think ill fly it first and see how the nylon bolts stand up

I just automatically PU'd the gear plate and surrounding frame area, although in stock form it looks pretty strong. I like the idea of the nylon mounting bolts, I use this on a couple of my bigger 5 and 6 foot size balsa's and it really works to minimize damage in a rough landing/crash. If these tend to break too easy I'm going to replace them with a #10 size set of nylon bolts from the hardware store. I feel this size will be stronger without being too strong if necessary. As far as the axle's if I make it to the hobby shop this weekend I'll probably look for some Dubro's to replace the defective ones that came in the kit, or if the 3DHS substitutes hold up ok I'll just leave them in.

Where do you guys place your battery for correct CG? I'm concerned about getting either too heavy or too light motor. I'd like to use 2200 probably, and not have to push it right against a wing spar or up the front for example. thanks Rick

I show my battery placement in my build post along with my setup. It's not close to the wing spar with the ESC at the forward end of the motor box and an Omega 130g motor. No spinner, though.

-Well this plane fly's as I expected. Absolutely fantastic!
I fly with linear expo on the rudder and I found I had to input a little more stick to hold KE than my Skywings but geez this plane rocks! I absolutely put it through the wringer this morning and it passed all tests!
You guys are going to love it

I hope to get some flight Vid of a coming session soon

Hey, nice going. What did you use for your motor btw? I can't decide between the Helingi, or the bog standard blue 1000KV. The amp draw on the Helingi is nicer, with a bit more power.
