Smart man. Frames are ridiculously easy to build from scratch, especially if "cool" factor is not a criteria.
I love working with cedar, it's very light and plenty strong. I rip down a 2x4 and have plenty of material to build with for just pennies.

I'm glad to see these good ideas guys

have you run those motors on 4s? im loaded with 4s batts and only have a handful of 3s', would i be better off with the 1000kv versions on 4s with an 8x4.5 or 9050?
super keen to get a wooden H off the ground as an FPV ship in the next week or two.

Thats a great design! . I am building a frame very similar to your frame and used 1.5mm fibreglass board.

Can you please tell me the weight of your frame as it is in the photo. I'm just wondering what weight I Should be aiming for.

the bare frame tips the scale at about 350gr/12oz, it's not feather light but it's a good compromise for its robustness

i'll probably put an ecilop style camera mount!

Thank you for the reply, my frame is close to this weight.

For the fibreglass board I used single sided printed circuit board and etched away the copper cladding. This has saved a lot of weight and also drilling the aluminium arms saved some.

I'll post a photo when it's assembled again.

Yes it will work great with 4s and 8x4.5... more "aggressive"

For me I have now 2 QuadH... yes FPV and H addict
for replacement in case of crash... narrowly averted on this last flight at 2:18

No, flew my H briefly to test it out but it was a bit too heavy so moved to the spider style alu quad instead(see scratch built thread),
Would like to do another one but make the coffin body from 3mm ply instead of the 6mm that I had last time, get the weight down.

Designing my first H frame... well, not that much to design, just to come up with right set of dimensions for particular use. Here is my current vision. Planning on using 10-11" props and 750kv motors. Naturally it will have fiberglass top plate but other than that, is that motor to motor distance (442 mm) good or...? Feedback please.
