Who need freakin intakes when there is no turbine??? The goal is speed. Hence the name "low fat". It has all the sexy details that are a turn on of the L-39. It's gonna be Perfect. I'm loving this thread.

Glad you're liking it. It just seems to be taking forever to get this mould done. I keep running low on supplies. I need to wait for more resin to arrive so I can finish this second half.

I used a slightly modded HD45 airfoil for the wing so it should be plenty fast. The bagged wing came out thinner and with a little less chord. Because the skins were thinner than the 0.8mm (1/32") allowance on the hotwire templates.

Resin arrived today

I just finished laying up the second half of the mould. I'll open it up this weekend. Hopefully it turns out nice.

Friday afternoon counts as the weekend right?

It turned out ok. I need to trim the edges up a bit nicer. There are a couple of patches with no gloss. I think it may have been PVA overspray. Trying to decide whether it's worthwhile polishing them out.

Maybe not? I guess you're not planning to paint in the mould. If not, why make more work for yourself? The fuse will need knocking back anyway, to give the primer some key.
nice work BTW.

Maybe I won't go for a 'mirror-finish' then. I don't want my plane to look like a flying baboon.
