Fern ... if you use dev 1240 to configure the MKT3329 and go back to 2.1 - does the GPS unit retain the correct config setting i.e. 115200 baud rate / 10 Hz? If that is the case, I can use dev to set the GPS and upload 2.1 to fly instead of using the Mediatek tool to configure.

That's what I did
MultiwiiGUI doesn't work with dev 1240

Seems Part n is coming earlier than expected ....

a) GPS has to be enabled in config.h (see posted file in the HK or the link in Post #254) as below.

GPS
#define GPS_SERIAL 2 (Would be Serial 2 for the HK board)
#define GPS_BAUD 115200 // Your GPS’ Baud (for MKT3329 is 115200)

GPS connection to Serial 2 would be Tx to Rx, Rx to Tx, 5v to 5v, Grd to Grd. No that's not a typo.

b) Connect to WinGui 2.1 and on the realtime tab, the GPS lights need to blink red/green.

If GPS light is not active, your GPS unit needs to be configured. Two ways:

a) See Post#126 and follow the procedure on pdf imbedded in the MTK-firmware-tools-for-2.1.zip file found in the link to the Google code page to get the green donut (GPS working ....).

b) FernMan suggests using MWC dev 1240 configured for GPS (see posts above and below) and upload that then go back to MWC 2.1. Seems the dev sketch configures the GPS unit for proper baud/refresh rate. You can go back to MWC 2.1 or play around in dev ... but that is not a stable release ... you have been warned.

From jabram MPNG thread for the HK MEga MultWii board. You can use the new multiwii dev version. its dev 1240

when you're done, you can go back down to Multiwii 2.1 and enable gps under the config.h tab in arduino. uncomment by removing the //

#define GPS_SERIAL 2
#define GPS_BAUD 115200

Go ahead and give his thread a read, very informative

in Multiwii_dev_r1143 config.h make these settings

Compile and upload that to the HK Mega board, make sure your GPS is connected so the GPS is in fact setup.

#define GPS_SERIAL 2 // should be 2 for flyduino v2. It's the serial port number on arduino MEGA

#define GPS_BAUD 115200

#define INIT_MTK_GPS // initialize MTK GPS for using selected speed, 5Hz update rate and GGA & RMC sentence

Did you get your GPS to work? You are 100% correct ... that line does not exist in MWC 2.1 ... and the earlier post edited accordingly.
