No, that is why we are making sure it is right the first time, and has features built in for the future. The firmware is fairly complex and full function. It really should not need updates.

Good point. I am not sure how it would be done. I will check into it.

Let's say it like this then. With any luck, it will not need to be done. Something to think about though.

The only problem with these types of "options" is that they would inevitably raise the production cost which, in turn, raises the price of the units. Then you'll have people complaining that your units are too expensive.

Too true. Already have that. I am trying to get it to be as feature rich as I can, but also keep the price point reasonable for the average flier.

It is worth looking into. Who knows, it may be a cheap option. Honestly though at this point, the hardware is done and the software is close, so it probably will not be an option in this version.

By the way, that camera is only about one year old.

Not really. Some were fixes from variation of micro SD cards. The vast majority of firmware upgrades were from adding functionality to the camera such as color balance, video output format, etc.

While I agree that there have been many improvements with that camera, there's no excuse to have 67 firmware updates in a years time. That's more than one update a week which also leads me to believe that they are doing very little (if any) testing of the firmware updates before releasing them.

In your opinion....

The thread is used to receive comments and suggestions from users. Tom Frank runs the thread because he likes the camera. He also tests all new firmware before release. He does it for free for the developer.

We now resume regular programming.

Correct...it's the personal opinion of a person who works in software development

Opinion aside, I have one of the cameras and I like it a lot.

Steve, Could you develop a GUI for future firmware upgrades to the V4? Of course, you have agree to be an unpaid volunteer supporting the cause.
