Guys, I`m really a 3d guy most of the time, but want to get a pattern plane to hone my skills plus they are just cool. I`m looking at Kaos ARF...Do I need a OS .55 to make it scoot or can I use my OS 46ax with a pipe? I have the .46 and the pipe is cheaper than the .55..I also have a Evolution .60 that has a mind of its own...any help would be great...thx..Jason

What would you prefer... the pipe of the OS .55?

It will scream with either option!

I want to make sure a .46 with a pipe won`t be a slug..I`ll get a .55 if needed...as you know a lot planes recommended engines are too small.. I want a 90-100 mph plane..thx...Jason

I'd go with the OS 55, AND a pipe.

If you have the 46AX try it first, why put out extra money. If you don't like it, then change to the 55 if required. The bolt hole pattern is identical which doesn't matter bacause the Kaos arf uses a clamp mount.

I have the Tower Kaos setup with the OS 46La. (Not flown yet).

I have a Kaos ARF and have had three engines on it:

Evo .40 with a pipe – Okay, not a rocket but fast. (The pipe killed the Evo bearings pretty quickly)

Chinese Super Tigre .45 with a Macs 1 piece muffler – Hauled ass. Faster than I wanted it to go. Fat wing, slab control surfaces I was waiting for the flutter.

OS .40FSR on a pipe – Lightest of the bunch almost as quick as the previous setup. Best match

Thanks, I`m gonna pony up a get a OS .55 and use my one piece pipe..That Evo .60 is junk and needed bearing as well like yours...Always dead sticken and has been back to Horizon...never again...Jason

I have the Kaos ARF with a NovaRossi .57. I dont think its "too much power". The 55 AX will be a good match. Prop selection is key.

Here's a picture with a Jett .46 prior to the NovaRossi .57 upgrade.

I can give you a nice deal on a new in box Tower's Kaos, and, I can throw in any one of 4 excellent OS 40FSR's or a good OS 45FSR. Gotta clear some things out of my shop......Shoo
P.S. The Kaos with either FSR's is possibly the best combination in model aviation history.....

Jim, That 46LA isn't going to do it for you. Send me a PM if you'd like, I have several OS40FSR's, a 45FSR, and a couple of 46FX's that will make that Kaos scream, Shoo

A friend Dick J has a 46 on a pipe and he is afraid to go wide open in a dive as the tail might fall off of the Arf Kaos!
