Testors Cosmic wind? Just bought this little cutie and it looks gorgeous. Tiny compared to the others I have. Only 16inch wingspan. Not sure of the era but I assume its pre cox cosmic wind?? which puts it about 1970??? Also noticed the plastic is a lot more flexible than cox planes.

Lear jet not flown yet but looks good!

Texan, what a fantastic plane to fly. strings supplied are far too short in my opinion as it was FAST.

A quick memory about the Wen-mac Turbojet in post 3#-
I had one in the mid 60's when I was in my early teens. One unique thing about it was if you slowly fed full up into it the model would hover on the end of it's lines. Best to do this on the downwind side of the circle to keep it out on the lines.

But it did hover, I did this several times. Later used the engine on Free Flights where it did a commendable job.

Very cool thread. I too, had plastic RTF planes "back then". I recall:

Cox-Thimble Drome Super Cub (late 1950's).
Cox Helldiver (early-mid 60's.)
Cox PT19 (same era as above)
Cox Skyraider (same era as above)

What got me into the plastic RTF kick (beginning with my Super Cub) was a friend had a "Piper Tri-Pacer"... don't recall the mfg'er... but I recall it was blue with orange trim?

Would love to see more pics of plastic RTF: Wen-Mac and Cox and Comet and ????

Comet on the Tri-Pacer.

Comet cost both Fox and Herkeimer a bunch of $s on engines delivered on contracts and not paid for. Fox took theirs and ground the "Comet" logo off the bypass and sold them factory direct at fire sale prices long afterwards.

Just found this thread and brought back great memories!

My godfather gave me a Wen Mac P63 King Cobra and my dad taught me how to fly it back in the spring of 1966 in my last year of elementary school.

Thanks for that link Skylane. I was able to see pics of every Cox plane I ever owned. Cool.

Plus, was able to determine what mfg'er (Aurora) made a gorgeous plastic control line B-25 that I saw on display way back in the mid-80's at a hobby shop. Awesome model!

I look at the various planes, drool, then try to find examples as the pop up on e-bay.

Light Blue (early) Wen Mac Dauntless (incorrect propeller-should be a white, two blade):



Olive Drab w/gold trim A-24 (examples also show up with white lettering and trim), incorrect/late production Testors motor and propeller:



Custom Painted Red Dauntless (whoever did it, did a nice job!):



Later model Turbojet (separate canopy, tip tanks):

REALLY like that Wen Mac Dauntless... especially the blue one.

FWIW:

Been browsin' the huge virtual hobby shop on the virtual mall and lo and behold... so far I've found examples of ALL the Cox plastic RTF planes I had as a lad!!! Cool!

The Skyraider and Helldiver thereon are primo... with prices to match!!
