Flyzone Select Scale deHavilland DHC-2 Beaver
I have had a chance to fly several of these Flyzone Select Scale aircraft and they are really nice flyers IMO. Lots of nice features included in the box. This newest one looks pretty cool. I am always up for a Beaver! Especially one with both floats AND fixed gear in the box!? LED lighting system, corrugated surfaces, twin water rudders ... this one might be fun!
![]() Specifications: Wingspan: 59.5 in (1510 mm) Length: 38.5 in (980 mm) Weight: 3.0-3.25 lb (1360-1470 g) We are doing a full review of this one over at HDFlyer.com. I'm not much of a foam fan, but gotta admit this looks pretty interesting. It looks like the weight is nice and light, so maybe some scale Beaver flying is possible. A perfect candidate for a re-paint with all the cool colour schemes out there. I found a video flight review of the model here:

Untill the end of the year you get the Anylink TX adaptor for free with the txr planes.

Rude of Electrifly/Great Planes to only offer models that are either RTF or with RX only. They should all be offered RxR.
While I can see their need to increase their bind and fly market penetration, forcing folks to use their link or suffer some financial cost loses them some customers, even with the free link offer. I can see it on the low cost micros like the Triplane or the Albatross, but forcing the customer to use their link on larger models does not work for me. I did get a free link with my Flyzone Albatross, but have no desire to use it with a larger model. Much prefer my Spektrum radios I was interested in the recent Electrifly Gee Bee until I found it was TxR only. Same feelings about the Beaver and I will have the same feelings about any future models larger than a micro that is offered TxR only. Come on, GreatPlanes...do the right thing and offer your product to a larger marketplace without penalty. |
