Ahhh.. Great.. Thank you gentlemen.
The Hobby B photo's, with their total lack of reference scale, make it look just like the adh300 Don's wicked motor which is 23mm diameter.
Clearly then it is not one of those.. it seems to be it's baby brother.
Too bad, as I have a couple needing homes.

The more I fly this, the better I like it. Compared to the ELERC A-10, this behaves much better with a much lower amp draw. This one will fly inverted with great control where the ELE is not happy inverted. the 2s 800 mAh 40C gives pretty long flight times when you cut back to about half throttle and cruise around. I wish my pair of motors were a little better matched, the harmonics between the two are a little loud, it's evident one motor is a little faster than the other, as I can put just a little drag on the motor bell of the faster one and they match right up in speed. Oh well, not a big issue but matched motors would make the package really sweet. I have a really good pair in my F-15 and it's simply awesome, especially on 3s.

I decided to get one of these and it just came today. It looks really nice. I have the ESCs to convert it to 3S, but was thinking of trying it on 2S first. Joe, am I reading correctly that you still run yours on 2S? (and you must be happy with it?) I have some 800mah 2S batteries.

Yep, pretty satisfied on 2s. There isn't much vertical performance, but for all other situations, the power is suffecient. The speed is decent, enough power for loops, some limited vertical, rolls, inverted, etc. Full throttle isn't necessary once you're in the air, 1/2 to 2/3 throttle gives good flight times. Just know that with an 800 mah pack, you will need extra weight in the nose for the correct CG of 20mm back from the wing to fuse joint.

In the vid you can hear one (?) fan make an unhealthy sound.
I recognize this from my 35mm Skyangel fan. I balanced it using the method NitroCharged described in a dedicated thread. It's a bit less now but I've got no clue what the problem is?

Maybe bearings or..?

Thanks for reviewing the Thunderbolt!

Any time that one fan turns faster or slower than the other, there will be harmonics that can be pretty darned loud. Each fan by itself is quiet, when spooled up together it is obvious that they are not quite in sync. That and the A-10 nacelles aren't as thick as the fuse in the F-86 or Mig so there is less sound dampened. Since I pulled these fans from the Mig-29, the same sound was apparent in the mig, it just wasn't as loud. The F-35 does the same thing at lower throttles but on 3s and three blade fans, the harmonics essentially are a much higher frequency and are pretty much inaudible at wide open throttle. Evidently getting matched motors is much harder the higher the KV you have.

Hey Brother
What's your wattage on 2S?
Know it might be in one of these many threads but I got a A-10 and F-29 that I
trying to get into the air soon and wanted to get some new batteries that will fit.

Thanks for your help on the 50mm jet thread also
Larry

I'll need to put a meter on it. On 3s I get roughly 14.5A, no doubt that 2s will be noticeably lower.

Finally, a video of the A-10 stepped up to 3s lipo. What a monster now! I would have to say that vertical authority is stellar for a micro EDF. I can just cruise around at less than half throttle, punch it and pull straight vertical until out of sight. This little beastie is a hoot.

great vid/info
thanks for doing.....

Q . I got a guan li -eps (lightweight and old) 64mm A-10
do you have any suggestions for me / It ...
I was thinking with the improved EDFs ( dr thrust units?)
that a 50 mm rework of nacels might make a much better looking (scaleish )
unit and still fly well on 3s 2200 s I like lite craft

any thoughts you care to share would be appreciated.

thanx

A pair of Turnigy plush 10 amp or hobbywing pentium 10 amp for 3s voltage. If 4s, you need a 12 amp.

Thanks, Joe. Appears these kits are getting hard to find. I may try to get another one to paint in European camo ... and repaint my "desert" in gray.

Is yours still flying strong?

It would be if my lipos weren't toast. I actually have a couple of them. One on 2s with landing gear and a belly flopped on 3s.
