Quality aside, get multiwii. It has more tunability (PID) where the KK board uses simple gyro gain. Also has options for other sensors

installed again and rechecked every setting, still no roll/pitch

Have you already tried the ino file, under the files tab on the hobbyking site?

Gps can be connected directly, no gay i2c board is needed

I hacked mulitiwii 2.1 wthout much problem for do it

The trick is that on tge air you don't really need the serial guistuff

Kk2.0 is very easy to configure

Multiwii is more flexible, but if you don't care of gps or baro or magnetometer, kk2.0 is better

Yeah. Multiwii is plug and play, with 1 adjustment for the gyro on that axis. Multiwii is a little less plug and play, and uses a PID loop. So it really depends on wether you want more features and adjustability or just plug and play

MegaPirate as far as I know need a bigger ATMega chips ... with multiple serial ports (but this is a details) ... but it require bigger memory then 32kb of Flash.

Still MultiWii, can be used for import some MegaPirate functions ... as soon I'm happy with GPS holding, I will add some basic navigation on MultiWii 2.1 ... my version is only 25k ... so I have 5k free for add some stuffs ... and in 25k I have already the GPS support over the stock serial interface ... without the need to use a i2c gps board

Q#1 - When I run MultiWii Conf 2.1, I get Semi Flat output line data for about 30 secs after Calibrating (Acc & Mag)...then all of a sudden the lines shift.(see below):

Is this a normal occurance?


Q#2 - When I do a Field Calibration (rt stick pulled all the way back & Throttle to lower left corner) shouldn't I see that calibration occur on the screen while running MW Conf?? If so what am I doing wrong?

I have had 2 flights with very dissapointing results...especially when I turn on Alt Hold. Copter heads to the ground.

Yes you can handle up to 8 motors with this board

But, you will have to make/compile your own firmware from the multiwii 2.1 arduino code

Mainly you need to set the config.h file for match your multicopters and your wishes ... plus I'm afraid you need to create the definition of this board, since I'm not sure this is already in the list in the def.h file
