F-22 = Failure! 1800 Packs are too much for it...

Even in this wind I could not get it to fly after a launch, sunk to the grass, dirt, rocks cartwheeled on first one. Tried two more times, it was so windy it did a Snap Roll to the left on Launch 2 and 3 at 4 ft elevation. Got it under control and flew it out to a landing.

Got a little minor nose cone tip damage, crinkles and paint missing, broke an elevator control horn in half, no idea how that happened. some minor paint scratches on bottom. Good thing I did the Minwax coating, needs another.

Spec'ing new Batts, 800-1000, minimum 30C. It will never fly with 1800's. Motor was really singing too, no lack of power. It would drive around on the grass.

Back to the drawing board, checking Batt weights and specs...

What Flight Times do you think I could expect with this pack? At least 4 min?

Ate about the same size as the stock pack. The C rating is better though. I think the stocker is only a 20c. I'd figure no more than 4 1/2min of mixed flying. If you fly WOT more then go to 4min. EDF's are horribly inefficient and just suck packs dry. I never flew one past 6min. You just keep going faster and faster with them and after 6min of high stress flying you're about done anyway.

Stock is 25 now.

Amazing, but Battery stock from HK, HPZ is still terrible this month. Every 1000 and 850 Stateside is out of stock... Probably will have to order from HK Global Warehouse and wait another 2 weeks...

THANKS JEFF!!! I Knew there was another place that I forgot! Brain lockout this afternoon, several times....

After having a war with myself over 800 vs 1000 all afternoon, decided on the 1000 30C Glaciers. 100g. So I dropped 1.14 oz off the AUW and hopefully gained a bunch of thrust.

Hope it's enough to put it over the top, if not, getting the Wicked 6000Kv and be done with it. I also might replace the Stock 20A ESC with a ZTW 40A. Probably holding it back and the Stock ESC has a metal sink, could probably loose some weight there too.

I got 6 flights in yesterday and I'm charging up to fly it some more today. I'm going to try a 16x8VOX just to see.
How's yours?
Hopefully maiden tomorrow! Excited

The EPBuddys are fine but, the (3) 3s 2200 30C's I have pull about 50 less watts and about 8-10 less amps on average than my season old Gens 3s 2200's. They come down warmer and start to sag noticeably. I know the Gens are always out of stock which sucks. If you need a battery the Glaciers are good enough. Maybe it's just the ones I got but, I wasn't impressed with my 3. For the same price the Gens are better IMHO.
I bought 6 Gens 3s 2200 60's and they are really nice.

Ohio wind aint got NOTHIN on "out west" wind....we got into that wind in northern Illinios....we pulled into a shipper for a live load and i got out to open the doors on the trailer and the wind wasnt havin it.....i got it 3/4 of the way open, standing strait legged, flat footed, leaning at a 45 degree angle pulling on the trailer door then wind picked up another 5ish mph and drug my little azz back around the back of the trailer....it slid me around flintstone style on pavement....boots skidding across the parking lot while i was tryin to hit the brakes to keep the door from slinging me into the back of the trailer....all the other drivers from the other trucking companies that were sitting in their trucks getting loaded were laughing at me....my codriver looked in the mirror and one of the drivers was laughin and pointing at the back of the trailer....he had to get out and help me fight the wind to get the door open. The load we pulled only weighed 4500 lbs so from Commence, IL to Westlake, OH i fought a dead crosswind for like 6 hours. Just cuz its a semi doesnt mean the wind doesnt toss it around....
