Oh man, now you're getting personal I got the mega 22/30/3 and 750 belt drive w/ 3:1 and 3.6 pinions ( Tom has done the Kyosha Super Stearman conversion) The battery pack is a 3sx2px2. This = 6sx2p or 24v@4000ma. And for the answer to your question 3sx2p=$170x2 or $340 total OUCH! The good news is that the 3sx2p packs can be used for other planes not like the $300 pack in the Pitts (4sx4p) Hope my wife never reads this

Li-POLY disaster!

We had a close call on a Li-POLY and a incorrect selection of Servo reversal switching that both caused a very bad situation.

First lets give you the problems with my radio with regard to servo switching and leaving the dang battery connected (I don't have a switch on the GWS STEARMAN). As soon as I reversed it the model zoomed foward like a jack rabbit in heat and eat up Richard's wonderful flying GWS J3 Piper as shown!

Repairs are underway!

Damaged: My GWS STEARMAN's 6 Volt SPEED 400 burned up and Richard's Piper J3's tail feathers destroyed!

Li-POLY shorted out right at take off!

One Flyer brought a GWS FORMOSA with a battery that had sustained previous damaged and was repaired Okay, as soon as he connected the battery it sounded like a model ROCKET taking off!

VERY DANGEROUS!

Since it was 2-series Li-POLY, here's the second ignition!

It looks like it needs an extended canopy!

Seriously people, lets be real careful with these Li-POLYs and if they have sustained damage from a crash the best is to be on the safe side and not mess with them. I don't know if this person knows that these Li-POLYs have ALU. tabs and just regular solder really doesn't work. One needs to buy the ALU. solder to connect the leads!

I would just buy a new pack and be done with it.....

LESSONS LEARNED:

1. Never ever switch a Servo Dip Switch while the model is active with the battery connected and the electronics active with the transmitter turned on! Always perform such an operation while the both transmitter is turned off and model's battery is disconnected and electronics switch is off.

2. Never mess around with the first dip switch since this is your throttle!

3. Never try to repair a previously damaged Li-POLY! Great risks involved during the repair since an unknown exists as to the extend of the damage and home and/or car plus humans could have resulted. This person is very lucky this battery melt down happen at the field!

THANK THE LORD FOR RICHARD's XMAS DECORATIONS STREAMERS ON THE TAIL OF HIS GWS J3 PIPER CUB! THIS PREVENTED MY GWS STEARMAN FROM TAKING OFF !! ( I don't mind buying a new motor as long as no one was hurt!)

VERY LUCKY DAY! AND IT HAD TO HAPPEN ON MY BIRTHDAY!
