My shop....

my new (to me) lathe, with DRO (digital read-out) for making stand-offs, bushings, or anything else I might need for my planes...

And....Recently, I bought an older "Kondia" mill, and have just finished doing some refurbishing on it....here are some some pics of before and after.....It had sat in a guys garage for about 30 years, and while he didn't "abuse" it, he sure didn't take that great of care of it. So it took a bit of work to make it even halfway presentable....not the "prettiest Belle at the ball", but certainly usable!!

Finally, got it all finished,(check out pic # 7) with a new switch, a 3 Axis DRO (digital readout) and also a digital readout on the quill also!!

I decided to add a few pics of the rest of my shop, please excuse any mess you might see, as I have pretty much run out of room for some things....

In my opinion, you can never have enough tool cabinets/drawers, and I like to have my tools within easy each when working on things. So.. I had bought the tool cabinet on the left under my work bench a while back, but quickly filled it up with tools in the top drawer, adhesives in the second drawer, hardware, etc. in the third drawer, and sand paper in the bottom drawer. Unfortunately, even with some of my modeling tools in my large tool cabinet, I had a lot of my modeling hand tools buried by other modeling hand tools, so I had been wanting another of these cabinets. So...over the T-Day weekend, I checked to see if they were on sale, and, they certainly were... at $85.99 (I paid $139.99 for my first one). so I ordered it online, and picked it up the next day at my local Sears store. The new one is the one on the right (the clean one)...

To see all the pics, you need to click on the "view all images in thread" tab...

Thank you....

And if you were, you would be a lot drier!!! I spent eighteen days in Everett, it "didn't" rain the first day...too wet for me!! I must admit it was very pretty there, lots of moss on the trees, houses, rocks...people...

Nice shop. Hard for me to show photos of mine because it is such a mess. Nice looking mill. Who ever scraped the way last made one mistake that is seen a lot on mills. They put flaking on the ways that face up. I could see it on the Y axis in the photos. What happens when they do that is the flaking pocket tend to hold grit and cause more wear than when they only flake ways that face down.

Thanks my friend...It's not "high end" equipment, but works for me...

As far as I know, that is from the factory. The guy I bought it from wouldn't know how to scrape the ways...He told me he was the original owner, but...I have no way to verify this... Want to come re-scrape them for me???

Steve that is a sweet looking shop. Everyman loves a good workshop! I found your site after you posted the link in the A-6 build thread. Now that I know you do small machining jobs I will get a hold of you the next time I need some hobby related work. The stand-offs you made look nice. I hear ya on some customers and what they think is fair. I deal with it a lot as I've been self employed all my life. I am just a wood guy, now that I know a metal guy we will keep in touch. Take care friend.

Thanks Dean....

I used to do wood working also. but really had no room. All of my wood working tools were on wheels, and I had to roll them outside to use them or even my metal tools. I had a Platinum edition Delta Unisaw with all the roll-out tables, and a large router table, a thickness planer, and a jointer/planers etc...plus the tools you see, so it got really crowded....

Thanks for the PM Steve I have you logged in. I play around a lot with EDF and sometimes need some metal work. I'm glad I found you. I know what you mean about having the space. Years ago I rented 3000sq/ft and had it filled with goodies. I downsized too and lost the overhead. The fence on the Uni-saw was top notch, I loved mine. Keep on truckin Steve. Take care.

That's a whole lota neat stuff right there!!!

Steve, my hat is off to you. I don't know much about running a machine shop but I've seen some of the equipment and I know how expensive it can be to run it. I think it's just fantastic that you are even interested in, and willing to make, and sell stuff to the RC community.
