Now with added crash video! New own design Autogyro

Greetings All

Having built half a dozen or so of Safelandings excellent designs, I decided it was about time I had a go at designing one myself.

Although pushers are my favorite it struck me that I hadn't got a puller with a rear mast and trike undercarriage, so thats what it would be..

Thought I'd better post a few pictures before I bend it!!

Cheers
Rich

Hello Rich,

Looks great! What are the specs for your new model? I'll be looking forward to your test flight videos. I hope you continue to follow in Rich's footsteps and do the crazy amount of work involved in making the plans for it available.

Regards,
-Mike

Thanks for all your nice comments

Mike, it weighs 4lb 10 oz and uses a 1000kv motor with a 12x6 prop and 4s 3000 lipo. Hang angle will start at 18 degrees and we will see!

Blades are off my Gemini which are 760x67mm....I also use these on my Super Sixty so had better make some more!!

I have drawn a plan by hand, which Rich H has kindly offered to help me turn into a real one if it flies so ultimatly yes there should be one available.

Cheers
Rich

Rich,
Love it! Very different and original. Looking forward to seeing it fly of which I am sure it will do very well

Great to see someone else going there own way, there is nothing quite like the feeling of designing, building and flying all your own work. It is very addictive. You have been warned!

Regards and respect

Rich,

With Gemini blades on that is going to be a floater, good looking design and I look forward to seeing that fly on Sunday.

Well today was a perfect day for a maiden flight so it was off to the field with my trusty Cameraman.
Groung handling seemed fine and the take off was a non event, until this happened

First Flight, first crash, new design model autogyro (0 min 26 sec)

Mmmmm!!

Tried again a few times all with the same result. So back home we went and a quick phone consultation with Mr S. Landings led to the conclusion that the fin was being "masked" by the rather wide fuz so I needed some extra finlets.
These were hastily hacked out and stuck on ready for another try.

New autogyro with 2 added fins sorts yaw problems (2 min 41 sec)

Now totally transformed and flies just like I hoped it would

Cheers

Might try a couple of those on my Spyro !! Great video, you must be well chuffed. I used to design my own gliders as a kid and I know how good it feels to fly your own designs knowing that no one else has the same thing.

Is it coming to Desford ??

Rich,
I like the spin! very graceful

Glad the extra fins did the trick, she flies sweet mate, looking forward to seeing her in the flesh.

Step back and give yourself a pat on the back, its some achievement

Ok...you cannot design, build and fly a new model which is unamed?

What are you thinking of calling it??
