I use 3S 1800 lipos with the 6000KV setup (The long thin ones for the Tex helis I think are what the advertise them for), they work nice. I actually ran 4S and the 4800KV motor in my T45 but the 3S 6000 is essentially the same power. Here is my T45 build thread:

Not sure on the Hobbyking ESC, it just needs to be able to run a 6 pole motor at least 70,000 rpm so look at the ESC manual and see if they specify rpm limits, and timing needs to be low around 5 degrees. This is why I sell the ESCs I do on my website, they are 100% compatible with my motors in this regard.

I figured this was a relevant post here since this is all Don's set up... This is a vid I took last week of Micromantis's Firfox looking Screamer... This is for sure the fastest 50mm jet that I have ever seen... And it scared the crap out of me a couple times in this vid...LOL I think that with a slightly larger battery that this thing could really be good!!

I have this kit, as well as a Katana on the way. Since I already have 1000, and 1800mah 4 cell lipo's kicking around for the Rarebear, figured I'd solicit info around those.
For my Screamer I thought of the 4800, or 5400kv combo, I like 100mph ish speed, so long as a couple more mph doesn't double the amp draw.
Lipo's are in fact inexpensive relative to the effort and time put in, so if the 6000kv 3 cell route works as the best go fast compromise, let me know.

the dons 6k works well for me in the screamer. but u are correct , the last few mph cost at the amp pump

i am able to use a 1600 40 c 3 cell and get right at 100mph. flight times are ok at 3 min but thats w/ short wfo bursts. used like this the battery gets warm , not hot.

some real battery abuse can be had by running it on 4's but it has to be brutal current wise at 50 amps on the smaller cells.

Just realized that I have 3, 2200mah 65-130 C. A-Spec's from my 3D planes. 200gm, but ought to work if there is cog, and or battery compartment wiggle room.

well i am sure u can make them work but cg will be a issue . on mine i moved the fan back a bit when i modded it for the wemo and still have to push the 1600 back out of the bay a bit, minor foam cut. with this setup no tail weight was needed and i am just slightly forward on cg. don used a bigger battery and ran his w/ a further forward cg yet.

yours may take some tailweight w/ the 2200 but it will make good power

I have the Skyangel screamer jet 50mm EDF, I wanted to but the EDF and motor combo 6000kv, can I make it work with a larger ESC on 4S or is this 6000kv motor only for 3S?

I know that 4S works with the 4800kv, but in the video on this thread it says 6000kv with 4S and the plane is stupid fast

Yes it has been done, I will not warranty 4S use on the 6000KV. On 3S it is ~400 watts so on 4S will be ~750-800 watts and exceeds the watt rating of the motor and rpm rating of the fan unit and not all ESCs will run that fast of rpm on a 6 pole motor. So it is use at your own risk. Also the rotor will need to be glued to the rotor adapter to prevent slippage.

I'm getting ready to order your 50mm / 5400KV combo to install in my JP Screamer kit.

I'll be running 3s 1800 batteries similar to what you showed in your build.

Do you recommend the 40amp ESC or will the 30 amp hold up if I stick to 3s?
