k&B 45 sportster

I have a old sportster that is in great condition. The motors runs really strong swinging a 11 4 prop. I noticed the prop shaft is slightly bent and a few threads are bad. Does any one know where to get a new shaft?
Mecoa.com is not shipping parts. I tried them and got an automated response.

Ask about if anyone has one or not they could sell or give you, like you just did.
You could also try Ebay or other online stores like that and see if they have something too.

Yeah MECOA is moving to a new location and it might be a while before they get it all organized again.

You could just buy another used engine and use it or part it out as needed too.
here is one http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1719311

An 11x4 is way too small a prop for that engine.

I had totally forgotten about it, but the .45 Sportster uses a 1/4x28 threaded prop stud shaft that screws into the crankshaft end. Since MECOA isn't able to ship parts yet, you can try ordering one from Fox Manufacturing as they use the same size prop stud on their engines too.

Yeah I run a 11x6 prop on my .45 engines.

Earl ya beat me to it. Or you could run to the hardware store and grab a piece of all thread and make your own. Or just a long threaded bolt and cut it off.

They normally don't sell 1/4x28 threaded items at the hardware store. It is a odd thread size. You usually run into the problem when you need a new 1/4x28 prop nut for a engine.
The specialty stores online have them though.

and threaded rod too

But be gentle with the threaded rod as it isn't hardened like the ones from the manufacturer are or the socket cap screws.

What size prop should I use on this? It is in a Kadet Senior.
Is 15% nitro with 15% lube fuel ok for this engine?

11x6 prop. The fuel is OK too. But I much prefer a fuel with at least a little castor oil in it, thus the fuels with a blend of synthetic and castor oil are what I consider the best to use. The engine works good with some castor oil in the fuel.

The Sportster series ran on bigger props. The instructions said 11x7 or 12x6. Some have used as big as 13x6 with good results. That engine has no ball bearings and the piston is chromed aluminum and the cylinder is aluminum. There is not much to rust so straight synthetic is OK.

Stainless steel may be a bit tough. The crank would break before the threaded rod even bent.

15% lube? way too low, I would use a minimum of 20%. Its a bushing airplane engine not a ball bearing car engine.
