Two rounds of duration done, starting distance now.
No wind.

A little windier now and finally some good thermals. Lachowsli just did 32 laps in nice air. Plan is to keep flying distance for the rest of the day.

Little update:

We flew two duration, 5 distance and one speed. Duration in the morning proved to be tricky and already many drops.

Distance was fun with a mixture of wind and thermals moving through. Mike did a 32 laps run, Thomas Cooke a 30 laps one! It often depended if you were up at the right moment and at the right place to start the run. Team East coast together with Cookie did quite solid in distance with many G's, but Tom K, Kyle, Mike Smith and Darrel did also very well.

The last round of speed was won by Darrel Z with a low 15, followed by Kyle.

I had a good day. I met a lot of people and was able to put names and faces to their RC Group handles. I am new to this F3B thing and had a lot of questions. Each of the guys although busy preparing for their flights, were more than accommodating and answered all my questions. Thanks guys. I have a small snap shot type camera and took some pictures. They may not be the greatest but should give you some idea of the field, competitors, and conditions.

I left my home in La Quinta (Palm Springs) and the temp was 73. When I drove through the Banning Pass the temp went up to 79. I got to the field and the temp was 39. This was at 7 am. Yes this is typical for a High pressure over SoCal which bring the Santa Ana winds. The winds in the morning were light and variable. By noon they had increased to about 15 mph. Then decreased to about 10 mph for the afternoon till the last round.
