Cheers

Gree - I got mine from Autocheap - 2 cans for $20.

Craig - I'm dry sanding. I have a fear of moisture getting into the balsa and swelling it (it did earlier, so now - dry )
The weather is great for doping and sanding - mid 20s and a light breeze to keep the fumes away.

Looking good, as usual..

About the application of tissue on curved surfaces, I always apply the tissue wet and dope while it is wet (lacquer used here, no dope), works like a charm for me. On the Fairchild, I applied silk over tissue the same way - both layers were applied wet, but of course not at the same time I do the same over curved solid surfaces.

I wish I was there; here winter is setting in and oudoor activites are getting difficult.

Pat/Gree

Would you mind posting the brand name of the primer please? I'm trying to find one that's not grey or brown- which were the only colours available at my local automotive paint store. We do have a Supercheap Auto close by though.

Thanks

Odd

PS: Here's Planeman's take on tissue and dope covering: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1782262

Pat and Craig: Thanks fellas- I'll go check it out!

My stuff is a brand called "Motospray", which is a brilliant high-build primer putty, but the grey or brown takes a lot more white to cover it when doing the top coat.

First Paint......

Not that you'd notice!
I sprayed the undersides with a pale blue/grey mix of Tamiya white and a drop of blue and green. The green was added because the white/blue was a bit too mauve. (green is opposite red on the colour wheel). I cant decide whether the underside/topside boundry is a soft or sharp edge. Research needed.

The upper cabin windows were cut using a brass template to get them all the same. I can hopefully cut the clear sheet windows with the same template. The forward windows weren't always glazed. Somtime blanked off, or with a small porthole left in them. The rear ones sometimes had guns poking out.

The scheme I've chosen had round portholes in the front pair IIRC.

The third picture is of an interloper I convinced to go back to the garden! He/she eats spilt dog food pellets.

that nose frame work really has come up a treat mate, you outa give the bluetongue some strawberrys, the ones over here love em, actually they seem to love most soft fruits and look funny as hell trying to scare you offwith a gob full of fruit the big bungarras are out and about up at work, tipping over rubbsh bins and spreading the contents far and wide, they are great!
