My New Wal-Mart Conversion

I have converted an (Estes) Cox Sky Ranger to three channel RC.

Specs:

GWS EDP 100
GWS 300 sized ESC
GWS 6 channel Naro Reciever
(2) GWS Pico BB servos
Either a 370 Mah 7 cell 2/3 AAA battery,
OR a GWS 6 cell 270 mah 2/3 AA bat.
AUW with 370 battery: 6 5/8 oz.
Without the battery it is 4 5/8 oz.
Using another wing from one of the free flight type Sky Rangers.

EDIT: PICTURES RE-POSTED

Here is the plane sitting on an E-Starter wing. It is very, very fast and responsive. The rudder is about 1 sq. in. yet, it can do rudder rolls.

The rudder servo simply has a hole where the control horn comes out, and it uses a GWS E-Z connector. The elevator servo is internal and uses the thin flexible wire that came with the plane (for rudder control) It is routed using some tubing and guide rails that also came with the plane.

download this cool viewer :

http://www.irfanview.com/

it will let you post MUCH bigger pix and not over step the size limitation.

BTW, I like the plane. Does it ROG, handle any wind?
thanks, Bill

Thanks, uglyplane.

I am downloading it right now.

I am sure it would ROG if I put wheels on it, but I broke the stoke LG when the plane was stock.

Suprisingly, this tiny plane does handle wind okay. It's weight/wing area allows it to power through the wind. It doesn't glide at all though.

*Sigh*

Oh GWS4CEO, you know that is not why you are happy for me. You are happy because in the plane, I used A GWS motor, GWS ESC, GWS Reciever, GWS Servos, GWS battery, GWS prop etc. Just kidding, I am a great fan of your products, and thank you for the compliment.

No, not enough wing loading. That was the original idea, but it just wouldn't fly for more than 30 ft. It grabbed a couple rubber bands, put the other wing on, tested it for the CG a bunch of times, and after lots of testing- it flew.
