so with the tests youi made I think its safe to say with the corect KV motor the CS18 should be at the same watts to thrust ratio as the CS12?

I think its just about finding a good motor since the test on the eurofighter were close.

The thing is I just bought an eurofighter, CS18 fan and a 150amp ESC. All I am mising is the motor, I was originaly going to mount a CS12 L3025 but I really want the CS18 in there on 6S.

Pape,

Ya I think with the right motor you can get Cs12 thrust, amps, and watts. But the problem I had was keeping that under 100a which I usually don't like to exceed on 6s. 1900kv motor I was planning on trying the turnigy 1900kv inrunner, but canceled my order before it shipped when I was giving up in the cs18 bad had a potential buyer. Wish I would've at least tried it though.

Amps

I tried the 36-59 turnigy with the 9 blade setup and got 138 amps with two sky lipo 6s 3300 mah in paralell. I tried the 9 blade because I thought it would be lower amps. The 1900 is the only motor I have right now.

The 9 blade set up pull more amps from the test I have seen here, dont you think in might be a good combo with the 18blade set up?

Thanks for the info on that 1900kv motor but did you ever try it on 18 blades? or did you give up on the fan?

Maybe, but still think it'll pull 110-120a which wasn't what I was looking for. That's why I was giving up on it as sub 100a on 6s isn't too great of thrust vs cs12.

9 blade

The 9 blade did sound good and seemed pretty balanced just making all the blades even weight. The blades are really stiff I bet it will make some good power.

well I finaly got to take a close look at my CS18 and I think there is one thing that is going to cause a big loss in thrust. The tip of the blades on the 18blade rotor are just to close to the intake lip. This is causing turbulence at the blade tip and probably has to do with some of the low numbers. The front of the shroud is just to short to acomodate the 18blade rotor.

This can be taken care of by making an aluminium base for the motor and mounting the motor 3-4 mm further back.

as for the blade to shround gap its big 1.5-2.0mm all around but thats fine. and as for the blades been thin and flexing, centrifugal forces take care of that as long as they can stay on the hub.

I think that to get this nice sounding fans up to power they just eat up amps. thats why I got a 150amp ESC for this fan, I run my CS12 on a 100amp sentilon.

I am really starting to think that my new goal is under 120amps at WOT

why buy an 18 blade and convert it to 9 blade config ... Paying for 18 blade and hoping it will be able to bring a 90mm plane up in the sky and now we are 'struggling' and only to find out that 9 blade is better...this really doesnt make sense.

Ming, where are u????????? Where is the test data... i hv this funny feeling that we are being played out or being use as a testbed !!

Probably a video will be suffice to show us the test data of a CS18 fan and it's motor combi. meantime i guess, i will hv to keep the fan in storage....lucky to those who have not get it.........u decide.

Test results

6s 4400mah 30c-60c burst, sky lipo, brand new, fresh charge.
9 blade
148 amps
3324 watts
5.56 lbs
18 blade
142 amps
3083 watts
Couldnt get thrust figures for 18 blade because the vibrations kept shutting off my scale! The adapter nut on my unit is horribly off center. Gonna have to get a good nut. Even if this fan was perfectly balanced obviously 1900kv is way to much. I will eventually try like 6 blades for this motor.
