Help!
Align t-rex100x

New to this hobby need help! I finally trimmed my t-rex100x but I'm having trouble controlling. It won't hover as its supposed to. I'll take off and withing a few seconds it's hovering in circles till crash. When I try to correct this motion it's all wrong for example. If I want it to fly forward my right stick has to be completely in the top left corner. Which should be making it also bank left,, correct??

This behavior is quite common for the Trex 100x. You might want to check the main 100x topic for some possible solutions. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1581629

I am becoming more and more tired of flying and crashing. Patience is growing thin, is the solo pro honestly the way to go for a Pilot looking for his first 4ch heli?

Solo pro 270A and V911 are hard to beat. V911 costs less and very good. S/P 270A is one of my favorite micos. Entry level 4 ch 2.4 ghz co-ax . H/K -36. Mine has been one of oldest and still flys as it did when brand new. Uses same battery as 9958/ e-flie Champ or blade heli 150ma. Very stable and will hover hands off TX. Slower than V911/ 270 but its full house and good practice for nose in flying.

Quite common?!?!? Really? Mine flies incredibly smoothly. It's trimmed out well and is very responsive. In fact, I'd argue that it's the smoothest flier out of all my 9958, V911, MSR, and MSRX helis.

Of course, I ditched the stock TX after the first flight and bound it to my Turnigy 9x. I tried going back to the stock TX tonight just to try it again and immediately ran back to my T9x after the first 10 seconds.

I'm not saying every 100s/100x flies that way, but on a regular basis I read about new trex100 owners that can't get rid of their heli's TBE. When you look at the threads about helis like the V911, Solo Pro V, 270 and some other helis you hardly see any case of TBE getting mentioned.

Apart from that the 100 seems like a solid design.

My only complaint is the somewhat weak (comparatively) feel of the throttle. I can do a full throttle punch with this heli indoors on a full battery and stop it before it bangs into the ceiling fairly easily. This is NOT something I ever try with the other FP helis I have because I typically CANNOT stop it before it hits the ceiling. This weaker throttle response has relegated this heli solely for indoor duty as the few times I tried it outdoors it simply couldn't fight the wind that the V911 and 9958 handled just fine.

At some level, this is okay though since repairing the TRex 100X is a LOT more pricey than repairing the other two.

Regarding the TBE, I really have to wonder about the fact that the heli is shipped with its head removed and the fact that Align expects users (potentially first-time helicopter buyers) to install it properly without potentially knocking something else out of alignment. Dunno. I'll report back if/when my heli starts to develop TBE.

The head being shipped seperately indeed doesn't help. This prevents the heli from gettng test-flown, then put in the box in that state. I've took several attempts to mount the head, loosen or tighten the mixer arms, etc, but to no avail. Yet I've even built a 270 from spare parts, and took several other helis apart without any issues.

Did you have a 100X or a 100S? The 100S I've heard has a whole host of design problems--some of which were fixed in the 100X.

I have the s-version. Wonder what the s stands for...

I could upgrade mine to x spec, but it's not worth the effort considering I have other excellent helis, and have made some baby steps into the world of CP as well.

100S is not a 100X. Plain and simple they goofed on the 100S. Thats why 100X came to be. Be calm and instakll the head like they show on CD rom. Mine went into a hover right out of box. It was a little wild as I used outer balls. TX has no dual rates. It will bind with V911 TX or T9X. My best are in order T-Rex100X/ S/P 270A/ Walkera V100D01. The V100D01 is really the best but not fair as its all brushless and FBL heli. Plus is has compurter radio. V911's are fine and no issues.

dankar04, have you ever tried adjusting the rudder gain on your X? I was reading over the manual last night for something else and saw that you can put the stock TX into a "rudder gain" adjustment mode. Do you know what that actually does? Does it change what is transmitted to the helicopter on a 5th channel of some sort? Does it only affect something about the commands are sent to the helicopter (like adding expo to the rudder commands)? I found that reading this was interesting but that it opened up more questions than the really terse manual had answers for.
