Freewing SU-35 Kit Build Log
First and foremost, I have to say thank you to Chuck, formerly of HobbyShopWarehouse.com, for the awesome hook-up with this amazing SU-35 kit. Chuck and I are good friends, and he was gracious enough to bless me with this plane. No this is not an advertisement and I am not trying to promote a specific vendor. Besides, it would be impossible for me to be promoting someone who's no longer in business. Unfortunately, my friend received a bad rap and couldn't recover from the fallout. Chuck and I have remained friends, and he is an avid modeller who just enjoys flying as much as he can. So Chuck, thank you so much! IGYB.
Secondly, what's up everyone. I just wanted to break away from the extremely large SU-35 thread in order to start a small informative thread about building this plane up from a kit. Most individuals have bought the PNP version of this plane, and while there are a few of us who have braved building this up from a kit and adding our own electronics, there are no build videos. So that is what I am trying to accomplish. There are quite a lot of pictures from the other thread, but almost no video of building up this plane and making certain modifications to the airframe. This is by no means a thread to take over from the other thread, because I too will be following and posting on that thread. This thread is just to help us kit builders and upgraders. anyway, here is my first couple of videos that I have posted online... There will be more to follow.

Need pics too. Videos are great if the reader is at home with good band width and lots of time... but pics and descriptions are really great reference material!!!
Have fun on the kit build!

Nice vid JK.
How do I find anything without watching every second of every video?
If you could at least title each post with what the Mod or step is, detailing things covered would help more. Otherwise I have to go to YT native and use the search tools from your account.
Do you have an idea of what mods you plan on documenting?
I can see you specifically chose Mark's ExtremeRC Alloy ChangeSun10. You don't specify weights, wire lengths, wire type, battery position relative to the motor Weight for what CG you're shooting for.
You can post others vids and post references from the main thread and link them here also. Hopefully video isn't the only medium.
And when corrections are suggested for things said in the vid do you intend to up date the posts?
You saw my list of frequently asked questions.
While you have a chance I'd add posts with videos pending on each that you intend to cover. E.g.
Stabilator, link setup and trim position
Batteries, lists and positioning
Radio wiring setup factory and mod potential
Common Radio channel setups
Power ESC and BEC setups
Trimming and Thrust line
Takeoffs and landings
Looking forward to answering everyone of the above

A few things... First, I apologize for some of the clarity in the video. The lens was a little dirty and was making the focus shift awkwardly...
Secondly, ok now that the negative is out of the way, I have a few things to say about this plane. THIS PLANE IS FREAKING AWESOME!!! The plane is so stable in the air and flies on rails. But man once you kick in the thrust vectoring, it becomes a whole new plane altogether. The possibilities while flying this plane are endless. With a little imagination and a whole lot of practice, I see this plane being, by far, one of the most dynamic edfs to date. Also, my motors are super quiet. I think this might be the quietest setup in a SU-35 video put out on the web to date. But they still have power!!!
For those who are interested, my power setup is as follows:
2 ExtremeRC Alloy Setups, both dynamically balanced by vendor:
2 Changesun 10 Blade 70mm rotors
2 HET 2W-30 Brushless Inrunner Motors
2 ExtremeRC Custom Shaft Adapters and spinners
2 Hobbywing Platinum 100A ESC: Medium Timing
1 CastleCreations 10A UBEC
Turnigy Nano-Tech 6S 5000mah 45C-90C
7 Detrum 9g Servos, 2 Hextronic 19g MG Servos, and 1 T-Pro MG90S(Steering Servo)

OK guys, here's the 3rd flight of my SU-35... I love this plane! Near the end of the flight, however, I was messing with the thrust vectoring and ended up inverted, heading towards the ground. I didn't have much I could do. The plane was travelling too slow to turn her around. I just pushed both sticks all the way up and started praying! I don't know how, but my ExtremeRC CS-10 Alloy setup with the HET 2w-30's kicked in and lifted her to safety!!! Also, we were able to get much better footage as the sun was going down. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
