More work on my RX100 Quadcopter mount. I'm having roll servo jitter issues but I'm getting there.
I now understand why many video without roll stabilization! I removed the power to the roll servo for this test.
I ran out of light last night... so off I went to the shopping centre for a fly (and to add a few UFO sightings).

I approached them and asked if they minded me doing a quick test video. I explained where i wanted to fly first. "No worries" they said... then one asked "hey... is that one of those machines that can go upside-down?". "Just on a bad day" I replied

btw - Dmala commented the that the low light performance was good. When i go HDMI straight from the camera into the 42" plasma tv... it is stunning. Very black sky, no high-iso noise

that seems very good as far as stability goes. What copter setup are you using there ?
it is quite brutal on light changes, can you use manual settings in video ?

Here is another test.
I had the "Steadyshot" on full. The in-camera stablization processing adds some jello. The un-steadied video is crisp but shows up every bump.

I also had the camera on full auto for the video settings. It has full manual settings available.

Thanks. Once your vid was over Youtube showed a link to a RX100 review done by davomrmac . This person's camera after about 5-10' of taking a video would get a message that it was overheating and would shut down, have you observed the same problem? I would guess it is a single defective unit but it may be helpful to check......

I had one unannounced shut-down while making the above video after 5 minutes. No idea what the message was... it was flying!
I have made 8 minute videos without a problem. I'm not likely to video/fly longer than 8 minutes anyway but I'll do some testing.
I'm not using Steadyshot anymore. That might help keep the temperature down.

I think Stacky and I will be grounded for the next 2 weeks with a 20-40mph "Spring" westerly winds. That's the problem when New Zealand is a big long N-S ridge in the ocean

I'm off to Palmy tomorrow for the weekend. I don't think I will bother taking a machine with me...

Can you put it on manual focus and set the focus to infinity?
