Yeah the Alula is a great plane! But it's not for thermalling. More for very light slope flying and just for fun.

If you want to thermal or have REAL fun with gliders you NEED a DLG

But, electric gliders are lots of fun too!

Go for a Radian. Or one of those from NitroPlanes, I forget what they're called... you can get one from HK too if you want for like $70 PNP

Oh.... really? What's it called?

Unpowered? Well do you want one that you discuss launch (DLG) or that you'd need a bungee/high start system to launch?

The Great Planes Fling can be bought at HK for $45...
That requires a bungee launch BTW! You can't discuss launch that.

No don't get that new HK Micro DLG... it's not going to be that great. You won't be able to really do a full discuss launch with it in the first place, it's not that strong. The original design was made more for lighter launches. Bigger DLGs... yeah they're expensive.

Binary 900 is only like $170, though, compared to $300+++ for a 60'' WS one.

But not TOO much of a high start. You'll probably need bungee and rope totalling to over 100 feet... and that's without stretching it. Might be a better idea to save up for a proper DLG, or just thermal with the glider that you have!

Yeah that's why gliders are best in the summer when there's less wind, or at dawn or dusk also.

But if there's a slope nearby.. SLOPE SOARING!
