Yup. An epp 3d plane just does not fly like a balsa 3d plane.

I think I'm inverted. Maybe.

I always had that feeling too - until I covered a slab of light EPP in hardened polyurethane and carbon, and stuck a roll wrapped CF tube through it. It weighed only about 20% more than a balsa wing does, and I wasn't trying to keep it light. It feels like a foam-cored fiberglass job until you smack the ground with it . I've yet to build a plane out of it, but when I decide to put time into a well-built plane, I'm probably not going to go balsa anymore.

I might try to build a small 3D plane like that as a proof-of-concept... just to see how it turns out.

And I don't doubt that if you really wanted the utmost, it'd be balsa - but if the difference is negligible to a HK-issue balsa ARF, I'd take the more durable one.

Just ordered an ESC to get my PopWing back up and flying I got this... figured that I'd give it an extra 5A just to be safe, maybe the 25A one wasn't good enough. IDK, but it was at a good price and should be here this week!

Fli-Powers aren't bad ESCs, but next time, http://www.altitudehobbies.com/brush...-brushless-esc

Garret will get it to your door in under 4 days (longest it's ever taken for me is 3), and better than the fli-power I once ordered from RCfoam as a replacement for a foamy.

It's about $80 to mod a Tx with FrSky and Telemetry. It only has to save your plane once to be a good investment, when you're hovering and your Tx beeps warning that you only have a 30 seconds of battery left.
A lot of words: LISTEN TO YOUR STINKIN TIMER!!!!!!

Ignorant me...tsk tsk tsk....

The suckish part of the 3D realm

I had let my friend fly it, and then the beeper beeped, and I thought, "Oh, Ill do a couple more pop tops and KE waterfalls." Then that turned into "Oh just a quick KE pass...and then: A HOVER."
Stupid me...tsk tsk tsk.

No need to invest in telemetry if you aren't stupid. Which, I am, so maybe I should think about it

Moral of the story: Your timer is smarter than you.
