Yep. A light fan / motor and the lipo moves to the very rear for the proper CG. The heavier the fan /motor combo, the larger the lipo needed and this model will definately take a good sized lipo. This will handle one serious weight fan and motor combo as the wing loading is so low.

Yes, I agree with all of that, but do learn from my experience. With the HK 4S alloy housing fan unit, a Sky Lipo 1300mah 4S battery moved as far back as it will go still required 1 oz of lead on the back. So I recommend getting a slightly smaller battery than mine.

However, It still flys great with all that weight! Still slows down fine and has great handling. I'm really glad I got this.

I'm not aware of the weight of the HK setup, but If need be, I'll move the fan aft. The stock fan can move back about 1/2". Any more than that will require some foam removal. That should help a bit.
The battery can probably be moved further aft as well, with some foam removal.

yeah, 4s 1300 is a bit much unless you use a really heavy fan combo.
I have a hoffman / hyperflow combo that is pretty heavy and at 540 Watts would need a decent lipo for the 50+ amps required. I'm not sure I would want to go that route, it's already plenty quick on a light weight combo. I may use that for the Katana. 540 Watts would move it along nicely.

Seeing is believing and your video was the first bit of me seeing it! This little thing flies like an EDF Stryker!! Great little plane with a wide flight envelope! Must have....

Finally stumbled onto this thread. Looks pretty impressive Joe. Makes me wish I didn't have so many irons in the fire already. I will be starting my trip back south at the end of the month. Should be there by the end of Oct.

I'll have to take some pics, but there is plenty of space available behind the battery in the fuselage for the AR400. You could probably put 4 receivers of that size in there.

I bought the kit. Using AEO ADF50-300L 5800KV and Detrum 30A ESC and an older Hextronic 860 mAh 15-20C battery. Decorated with self stick holographic paper. Maiden this evening and she flies real sweet! Very happy with it.

Congrats! I'll bet it sounds sweet.

Something tells me your lipo is not going to keep up with that motor and fan. My AEO fan with the 5800 kV motor draws 31A peak, that's going to kill that of lipo of yours pretty quick. I suggest a 3s 1000 mAh 40C. It will balance OK if the lipo is shoved all the way to the rear of the battery tray and the back angled upward. I flew my maiden flight with that lipo and all was well.
