The Wattage F-22 flies ok with an EDF, but getting the balance correct is difficult. Mine is running a EDF400 fan case with a cut down Kyosho rotor. Motor is a Kontronic Fun 400-28 on 12 x CP1300 cells. Getting the battery far enough back toward the fan to achieve the correct CG was impossible. I have about four ounces of lead in the tail to get the correct CG. That's about 8-10 percent of the total weight. I'd have to cut the ducts different and move the fan farther back to get the balance right.
As for fitting a MF480...forget it, unless you want a big hump in the bottom or top of the plane, and making the hump would be a pain. The MF480 is about 2 7/8 inch in diameter, while the EDF400 housing is 2.5" in diameter, and it just barely fits...I punhed a hole in the top above the fan housing and had to patch it. A better fan would be the new Vasa 65 fan that Hobby Lobby and EAM carry, that one is close to 2.5".
I'll have the F-22 at the Arizona Jet Rally Saturday morning.
