I've had very good results since 2007 with Spektrum and JR (DSM2) equipment.

Time to Eat Humble Pie

I had a recent unsatisfactory experience with Horizon's customer service and was quite vocal (on this site) about my disappointment.
Then my old DX6i failed (it must have known that I was bad mouthing the Mothership?). I reluctantly shipped my old, 2008, tx off to have it rebuilt. I wasn't hoping for much. I'd bought it used, off of e-bay.
I'd convinced myself that they would respond by telling me that it would cost more, to repair, than it was worth .
This morning there was a package on my front porch. My old Dx6. Repaired, tested and shipped back to me at no charge.
This is quality customer service. I'm now drinking the Spektrum coolaid.
Thanks LJ Weddle for your service.

It's just a byproduct of the Internet/web forums.

Many years ago, folks flew Kraft, Orbit, Futaba, etc and there were never any discussions or bashing.

I agree with RC Dad.
I battled all my working life with/against Windoze, but now retired I just moved on and use a Mac with Linux as well.

Same with RC equipment.
Look around, decide from your own experience what you'll buy next, and move on if you don't like it.
No point in making a fuss.
Market forces( as they say these days) says that if more people like your product then more people will buy it.
So is this why Spektrum is a 'market leader'?

I use Jeti, but I'm sure some people don't like them.
Fair enough.
Each to his own.

I did not state a number, much less numbers. As a matter of fact I have been out of my country, odds are to more places than you have. And while Spektrum brand radios may not be the most used I am positive that the system, the protocol, is use more than any other in the world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0moKCcULlk this was my first outing after building it
never again almost one year later they dont reccomend for boats way to late imho.
it has issues on water fail safe were set up to... i did learn alot rebuilding it but i certianly dont thank speckrtum for the experiance at the cost of almost 200 just for the radio kit its crap dx3 it was there first ever radio on 2.4 it was fine with the fg' trucks just no where near water ..The customer service was crap no reply's & they kept selling them despite the problems ...After smashing it up into little bits i purchased myself a futaba 6ex 2.4 ive still got it now. once i felt robed of my money by them iam not so keen on another go at my expence ...ps my friends fail safe works on his dx8 but its still crap & glitches out just like the dx6 across the lake .whilst us futaba boys run rings around him . Putting it on a plane would be the last thing on my mind "The bit that got me was the extra free receiver lol maybe one of the two works like its ment to but i doubt it"

There actually was, son. What there wasn't was the World Wide Web. And no, they are not the 'same thing'.

Kraft and Orbit still predated the Internet though. I don't know the exact dates but Kraft and Orbit were selling by the mid 60s whereas the Internet was mid to late 70s - and there weren't enough people on it to have a really good flame war until about 1980.

as far as quality there will always be those that insist every spektrum is junk and those who insist a defective product was never shipped. the truth is in between. note that spektrum and all others for that matter are built in china. my take is the dsm2 protocol was a design problem in crowded areas and those units were inferior to other brand name and some chinese units.

i say this based on one was given to me after a friend had several blackouts at his club field costing him thousands of dollars. i had no such trouble using his gear with orange and stock rx on my cheapo foamies. but i mostly fly alone or with a bud. i suspect those in desert wastelands like iraq or antartica will have similar good luck. the rest are better off with dsmx.
