Worked just as advertised. Thanks again Happy, for all your hard work.

Unfortunately, the wind was, for once, dead calm.
So I didn't really get any benefit from stab.

Auto level performed flawlessly, but since it was the first flight I didn't push it.
I'll definitely need to increase most gains from the defaults I flew with since the Fun Cub is quite stable on it's own and needs quite a bit of rudder to move quickly

Dusk came and stopped any further tuning, but that'll just be a matter of time.

Safe landings,
/J
YAY! Congratulations on the first confirmed flight with OpenAero2
Glad it worked ok, even if there was not much for it to do!

the guardian is a stabilization unit (with only one 3 axis mems and 1 acc). not an autopilot, but if placed in hh while in 3d mode if done properly will hold a knife edge, if the aircraft is capable. for some reason i thought the kk2.0 (with a dual chip (2) mems gyro and 1 acc) would be more than up to the task. this is a good example of why people should not ASS-U-ME anything. yep, it was all ME.

Hold on a minute... Hold a knife edge? That's not "heading hold"...
Heading hold refers to the aircraft's HEADING, which is the geographic direction it is traveling in, usually referenced as a compass heading.

What you're talking about with the knife edge is simple gyro-based stability. If you have the gyro gain high enough it will resist just about all movement, including any attempt to *roll* or *yaw* out of a knife edge, or any attitude for that matter.

So yes, that is easy. True heading hold though, is tricky.
Perhaps Guardian use their own definition of "heading hold" (shrugs).

pardon,
yes i was speaking a mixture of south teXas slang and "guardianese", they have a hh in 2d mode and a hh in 3d mode. in 3d mode it's using the last known stick position as a reference, if i said that right, and in 2d mode the last "set level flight" function you did it keeps in whatever type of rom their using "e" or "ee" when showing off in 3d mode for example and you lose, /it you can flip it to 2d mode and the self leveling and "recovery mode" type of assistance provided by the acc is evident. i don't know enough to know if it does anything else in the guardian.
there is a 4 pin data port and a few of us want some mods done...feel adventurous?

thanks for clearing up my misconception,

Hi guys,

For those interested, I have managed to shrink down the memory usage enough to add two RC mixers. Not tested yet but it looks good.

Basically this gives you the opportunity to mix any two channels into a couple of new channels called MIX1 and MIX2. You can mix in a channel from -125% to 125% of the source amount.
You can then use MIX1 and MIX2 as sources for the M1 to M8 output mixers.

This should mean you can do things like flying wing, elevon, flaperon, taileron etc mixing on-board.
I can also add mixers as space and processing speed allows.

This will hopefully come out in the official Beta2 release.

OK, the window behind shows that you've downloaded OpenAero2 Beta1, so I assume you're trying to program OpenAero2 on a KK2 board, yes?

If so, in the flash tool you seem to be selecting an old KK board with an Atmel168P processor, AND despite downloading the OpenAero2 file you have selected a local copy of OpenAero 1.13 (for KK boards) in the tool.

I think you're quite lucky it failed

What are you trying to do? What hardware are you trying to flash?
Are you by any chance trying to flash OpenAero2 onto an old KK board?

Hs,

i would have sent this in a pm but i can't upload a pic in my pm's.
this is the TelemetrEZ for addind frysky to the er9x it reroutes all the switches and does everything s you don't have to, except solder 2 wires to pads i believe. getting close to being available and i believe they're shooting for $20 - $25
there are several ways to do the frysky mod and none of the directions were explicit and left me wanting, i'm hoping this will do the trick.

OpenAero2 has been specially written for the new KK2 board only.

showing my noobness to all this but i just got my USBasp AVR flasher from goodluck buy and wanted to flash this software onto my KK2 and use it to smooth out my fpv flying wing. I understand about using KKmulticopter flash tool but i have yet to see how you go about connecting the KK2 to the flashing tool

Hi,
It's easy-peasy Firstly though, does the ribbon cable that came with your USBasp terminate with an 8-pin plug or a 6-pin plug? The HK one comes with both.
The KK2 board only has a 6-pin connector so you need the 6-way plug on the ribbon cable.
1. Plug in the cable with Pin 1 towards the outside of the board.
2. Make sure the jumper is on the USBasp to power the KK2.
3. Run the flashtool, select the KK2 board (very important)
4. Select OpenAero Beta 1 and click the button on the far right.

It should be as simple as that.
